To think people traveled to watch this game because there were so many other games that were going to be uncompetitive.
Absolute domination no doubt, can't argue that, not championship caliber I guess we'll see lot of football left. Don't understand your quote "teams can't always win based on reputation". What does that mean??? You win by blocking and tackling reputation means nothing once you walk on the field. You gotta prove it every game. Reputation might get you over ranked (which Catholic was this year)but not sure how it wins you games. "The only thing that matters .. who won last match up". So next year when Catholic beats you like usual this game will mean nothing to you that's sad you should always look back and enjoy it just like Catholic enjoys the combined 104-13 beat down of the last 2 years. Heck if you want to you can add in last nights game and it's only 104-58 the last 3 years

No need to look forward that far in on the future. Like I said, the only thing that matters now is 45-0. It doesn’t matter what happened in 2017 or 2018. Fact is, you guys got owned this year. But I get it. It makes people who recently get their asses whooped to ALWAYS go back in the past and bring up dead crap.
The reputation of CC is what got y’all so overtly overrated. Anyone with one eye and half a brain can watch the film and tell you CC is WAAAAY down from where it was. But they will be back, just not in 2019. And I’m sure that people will say CC really sucks after watching this ass whooping they took......LAST NIGHT!
Yes they did. Only one hiccup. Once students were let go one of our student trainers was trampled. EMS had to be called, was puzzled that they didnt just hop the fence. She is ok, shaken up, but ok. But kids were good, coaches and players were too.
Time to regroup now and press on.
I think the school was trying to avoid injuries by disallowing fence jumping. I’m glad to hear she is ok
Makes sense. No clue how high it is, didn’t look too high so assumed theyd hop it.
Also, I have to say I thought there would be more chippiness from both teams, but from what I saw, there was little to none. That is something to be proud of.
I didn’t expect it. Both teams are too well coached to engage in that stuff.
Great programs arent defined by one game. Catholic loss last night doesnt diminish that program any more than their wins against Weddington the last two years.
Both stellar programs that have a ton to be proud of both now and in the past.
I agree but there was no sense in bringing up the last 2 years to make yourself feel better and to try to rain on Weddington’s parade like 48er tried to do. Just say congrats on the ass whooping and move on
Make myself feel better?? Nah...not a Catholic guy. Have a great respect for both programs. But I get it, it nice to return the ass kicking.
Hate this for the CC people who I have found on here to be knowledgeable and complete class but my first thought was how happy I was to possibly humble footsoldier, the cockiest, most classless poster on ncpreps.
Well I was wrong, it was a foreshadowing for Friday evening. If CC is without talent until the current 8th and 9th graders are of age, gonna be a rough next 2-3 years. Weddington's program outscored CC program 76-0 last week. That is not merely "growing pains". CC appears to have been dethorned for at least the next couple years.
Also to say CC is without talent is like saying Shipley is not good at football. Just simply untrue, just not Catholic's night, Weddington was flat out better and wanted it more. Catholic has talent and will be fine.
I’m guessing Huss hopes not. May CC meet the Huskies soon so Wham’s fingers will freeze. Amen!
"Just not CC's night" is a huge understatement. And if the issue is not related to a severe lack of talent, then is the problem related to coaching/instruction? If the talent is truly there, how does a program across both JV and Varsity get manhandled like last week. CC's JV team looked like a middle school team and the varsity team looked like a JV team. Something must have changed at CC.
Also I mean I guess Weddington had no talent/coaching problems in 2017 when Catholic dismantled them on JV and varsity? And in 2018 when Catholic shutout both their JV and varsity? It happens, one week of play does not define a program. If it did, Weddington would be in the doldrums from 2017-18 games. The beautiful thing about football and sports is you can always bounce back and redeem yourself.
Might want to add a passing game if you want redemption. Im not a fan of weddington or catholic just went to see the game of the week. And boy was I disappointed. Worse Catholic team I've ever seen. Everytime I've gone to see a good game with catholic involved catholic usually beats the wheels of whomever it is. I think y'all need Frank Garcia back in my opinion...that offensive line needs help. Weddington defense was amazing.

Weddington outcoached CC that night. Not all coaching staffs will be able to do that, although they have a pretty good blueprint now. But it's obvious that Weddington's coaching staff was putting in as much film work on Catholic in the summer and during each week this season leading up to the game as well as the opponent that was upcoming.
Word in the Weddington stands was that CC was missing their old OL coach and it shows. Discontinuity in coaching staff can be big. I think it's easy after a loss for everyone to say CC needs this, this and that. However, I do remember people saying some of the same things(adding passing, etc) when Mallard Creek and Northern Guilford smoked Catholic in games in 2012-2014.
Catholic will make adjustments and be just fine.
From my vantage point, it looked like Weddington neutralized “Big C” pretty good and mostly with their LT. Do you have any thoughts Cougs?
They did an excellent job of running away from him or using short passing routes to neutralize pass rush. On Shipley's first TD run off the left side shifting those two big blockers over also helped a ton, that hole was 7 yards wide. Also no one calls him "Big C"
Lol! I thought our OL had a good game all around. They blocked 41 and 44 really good IMO
They did a good job, thought our D actually played well, but cannot put them in bad field position over and over again. A team like Weddington maximizes your mistakes. They're very much like Catholic in many ways. I've told people several times in the last couple of years that Weddington is Catholic but in green.
There is 5 threads being commented on as of yesterday all about Catholic...I'm not even a Catholic fan, I just thought they would win. They obviously lost...great. Let's talk about something else.
Hell I'll start a new conversation now. Weddington beat Catholic worse than any of these "expert" ranked teams...so is Weddington in the top 30 in the nation? If not, then they have a argument to definitely be ranked.
I have seen five teams in person that I think would beat Weddington. Mallard Creek, Dutch Fork, Vance, Richmond, and Gaffney.
I believ MC and DF would run the score up on them.
Vance defense would shut them down but they would not put up a lot of points. The issue in the matchup for Vance may be field position due to the Weddington specialist. Gaffney would be much like Vance with a better O due to the line play.
Richmond would be able to contain on defense and move the ball on O. Would win by a few TDs.
I think Butler and Weddington would be a good game. I lean to Weddington although Butler has more room for improvement. If Butler cuts down on the mistakes, penalties, and dropped passes they would win.
Matchups make games but I can assure you that MC and DF are not in tight contest with AK or PR.
