Oak Grove names Coach

This is a home run for the Midway community. Mark will build a powerhouse. With much of ND's talent coming from that area, he will know the parents and kids.

With "some" of ND's talent coming from Midway he will do just fine. Everybody acts like Welcome and Arcadia is non-existent in North's talent pool.

Congrats to coach Holcomb, I'd been wondering if this would happen over the last year. Not really surprised, this is a big blow to North for next season. They will still have talent, but things will be much different in three years.

Brilliant hiring for Oak Grove with the selection of the AD and the football coach. Not only with getting good personnel, but in finding a way to bring the North and Ledford communities together in a fashion. Much harder to pull against your own.
North will be a monster in the conference for the next two years. But it's easy to see that 3-5 years down the road, Oak Grove may very well be the beast in the Davidson County area in athletics.

OC, I understand and fully agree with you, but as a traditionalist I truly hope to see Thomasville and Lexington being good again.

agree on all fronts, OG has hit it out of the park so far with their 2 hires as highlighted by OC. Stan will be a great lead for the program, with Mark developing the football program from the ground up. As shared, in 3-5 years, OG will be a force in the 2a ranks in a lot of sports. if you look at the middle school, they beat most everybody now anyways from what I hear. a good mix of ledford talent from that friendship ledford/meadowlands area is strong too with the kids from midway.

Great hire for Oak Grove. I have been wondering for a while who they would hire as their first coach.

Obviously I would too. But a lot of things have to change, beginning at the top. And it doesn't appear it's headed in that direction, based on recent decisions.
Thomasville doesn't have the talent level it once had. AAU football is slowly starting to have its corrosive effect. And the fan support has largely disappeared....not because of the record, but because of lack of discipline and accountability. Fixing it is mostly up to the superintendent and school board. And since we are preparing to have the fourth superintendent in less than a year..........

Thomasville should bring back former principal Dirk Gurley from South Carolina as superintendent if the new one doesn't work out.

Saw Dirk the other day in a High Point business, but didn't have a chance to speak to him. Is he still in South Carolina?

I didn't mean to slight anyone not from the Midway area. I just think with those kids and the ones coming from Ledford that this will be a nice talent pool. Your DT that went to Tenn. and Tuttle...where did they come from? Arcadia? Serious question....

Midway. About a mile and a half from the new school.

Midway has usually dominated skill positions and defense. Many offensive linemen and QBs have been Arcadia and welcome kids.

Rumors are that the new Super could care less about sports. Hope that is not the truth.

Disappointed. Never thought coach would leave North. Don't know what to think man what a let down.

Is he still teaching at North? I know he stepped away from baseball to go see his boy play.
