Does anyone have any knowledge of who Oak Grove is looking to hire? Will they stay in Davidson County or go somewhere else to find their coach? Are they looking at top coordinators or Head Coaches?

Not sure they've named a principal or AD. I suspect that would come first.

They have named a Principal already. Good job with all the new equipment, stadium, community support ($), and kids from two successful schools (Ledford/North). Only problem is the first year in conference next season there will be no Varsity team so the CCC schools are left without that 11th game on Varsity.

You're right. I forgot that the school board appointed Dalton from East Davidson. Don't know if that will affect any staff hiring. They should hire Brad Hoover. That would go a long way toward winning over the Ledford community.

OC hit the nail on the head. That would be a home run hire for the community. Give that program 3-5 years and it should be solid.

If Oak Grove's mascot isn't some form of felidae, I don't think they'll have much chance of landing Hoover.

Hopefully our coach will get the job, then he can take his so called spread offense with him

All 3 will be 2AA most likely. Maybe 2A

ND will likely still be much larger than all the other schools. Basically 1st two seasons they will be playing down with 3A numbers. LHS will be closer to 2AA and the new school 2A. They are opening 9th and 10th, so they will be small for the first few years and be mostly JV sports.

ocdavis31, just asking the question. Do you think that Thomasville would make a run at Brad Hoover in the future?

North will still have a big senior class, but the other three classes will have gotten far smaller since oak grove opened.

I still look for ND to own this conference, and make some serious runs in the playoffs, everybody else needs to step up their game to challenge North

I'm sure they will, north middle has not been NEARLY as good since oak grove opened lol. High school is not the same, but it is sure to have an effect

Speaking of high school to middle school not correlating, I coached at tyro middle from 08-10 and we went 6-2, 6-2, 7-1. Never lost to anyone but north and the Davie schools. They then proceeded to go to high school and never won more than four games. Very frustrating...

I've known Brad's dad for fifty years. He played at Thomasville. But I can't imagine any scenario that would bring Brad to Thomasville.

They've already announced that the new 2A conference in that area (Fall 2017-Spring 2021) will include Central Davidson, East Davidson, Ledford, Lexington, North Davidson, Oak Grove, Salisbury, South Rowan, Thomasville, and West Davidson

All the old central Carolina 3a/2a conference members back together again...I wish Thomasville was like they use to be,when them and ND always battled for the conference championship last game of the regular season

Wow, you are not kidding, 10 team conference. How did those 2 Rowan schools get in there. It would have been a perfect conference without them. Was there no where to put them down that way?

Salisbury and S Rowan should have been placed in the league with W Stanly, Mt. Pleasant, Forest Hills, E Mont, Anson and Central Academy. Giving them an 8 team league and making the CCC 8 teams. Will be interesting every Friday night with all those good teams in one league. Only having two non-conference games will be a challenge for coaches and players to get things tightened up before conference starts week 3.

Originally, they were going to leave Thomasville out, but Thomasville appealed. The NCHSAA in all its wisdom.

I like the big conference leagues, just jump right into it,to many smaller conferences out there,it makes things watered down, just like the NFL,to many divisions, you win a division with a losing record and you make the playoffs, while a team with a better record misses the playoffs, not fair at all

Tville was originally going to be with Randleman, E Randolph and HP Andrews in the PAC. It would have made the PAC it's most competitive since it opened but Thomasville wanted out and into the CCC. Instead just Jordan Matthews is getting added and it won't make things much different or better off in the long run.

Thomasville being in the PAC would have cost them big at the gate. Lots of traditional rivals in the CCC.

Thankful they were pretty much out of compass points when they chose Oak Grove. Wonder if they considered Northwest Davidson before going with Oak Grove?

What is behind the name Oak Grove, is that part of the community call Oak Grove?

Not from there but I believe there is already an Oak Grove Middle School, so I'm guessing it's the name of the small community in that corner of the county

In the early 1900's, there was a one-room school house in that area named Oak Grove School. The school system appointed a naming committee, which suggested the name for board approval in 2012. Other finalists were Rich Fork and Rock Creek.
