How good are they really?? Won 67-7 over a previously unbeaten Camden squad are they really good or their schedule is weak?

They're pretty good. Lost their do-it-all player in Ge'Dari Liverman and their top 3 tacklers from last season. But just like every season, they reload. Solid offensive line, with no two way players on the O-Line. They held Joyner to only 45 yards. The weak schedule argument gets brought up every year but why? Regional Final appearances in back to back years. Hosting powerhouse Lake Taylor from Virginia in a few weeks. #2 team in Virginia

Thanks...Will be an interesting game on the 18th.

Let me preface this by saying that Northeastern put the smack down on us in the third rd last year. Total embarrasment. 48-6. It probably could have been worse if it wasn't for the clock running out. Liverman was the real deal and they did to our 2,100yd back what others didn't....tackled him at his feet. Smart. But the weak schedule argument comes up because they have a weak schedule year after year. It's not an opinion. Descending from 2014, their SOS has been 56, 42, 61, and 77. They went 47-10. Shocking. A bunch of teams would reach regional finals and third rd games if they constantly got high seeds and therefore, easy playoff paths. If you have been basically practicing all season long, which is what most of their schedule is, then by golly, your team's execution should be darn near flawless by the time the playoffs appear. Couple that with a high seed, and it's a negative testament to them as to why they haven't hoisted a championship yet. I guess facing a good team is what kills them. Again, I say this after they beat the brakes off of us. Am I a little salty? Perhaps. Lol. But really, they don't play anybody. Their schedule and record is all smoke and mirrors.

SOS may be weak, but a dangerous team none the less. Had a chance to see them a few years ago in an eastern final. There offense was almost flawless and I can't see that changing. When you make it to the 3rd round of playoffs usually both teams are good and a unlucky bounce here or there and your going home. Very physical teams cause Northeastern problems, not having those tight games during season makes it harder come playoff time because someone will play you a close game. Offensively the western schools are ahead of the east, but Northeastern has the offense to have a shootout against the west.

No, they can't help that. I'm not knocking THEM. But it is what it is, no matter the reason why. But I don't really see them loading up in the non conference portion. Aside from last season, any fairly decent team they have faced, they lost to. Make no mistake about it....I think they are a solid team. I just think their deep playoff runs have a lot to do with their constant high seeds, which are earned because of 11 scrimmages.

Can't say they're stepping up in the non-conference portion. Scheduling teams like Lake Taylor, Hunt, Northern Nash, and 1A powerhouse Plymouth. Being so far away from the rest of the state doesn't help either. It costs to travel. I'm sure NHS would love to play the SWO & Clinton or other top teams in southern NC. NCC has stepped up the last couple years, especially Edenton-Holmes

I guess I am taking up for Northeastern a little because my squad use to get knocked hard for scheduling. Look at the teams Northeastern has lost to the last 3 years. 2014 Washington team was sick they almost beat the great Surratt brothers of E Lincoln in the state finals. 2013 they lost to an atheltic SWO squad. 2012 they lost to Tarboro and nobody was going to beat them. Northeastern is going to get one real soon. Just a matter of time.

Lake Taylor (VA) is ranked #25 nationally according to Maxpreps, Defending 4A State Champs. Wilson Hunt is solid as is Plymouth. SWE plays 2 non conf games against teams from Northeastern's conference...hmmm

Would love to be there. One of my nephews attended a Plymouth game and he said they were paramount

SWE98 serious question. Do you consider Edenton Holmes one of those 11 scrimmages that NE plays each year?

Yeah, I'm not that impressed with our own nonschedule this year. I love the fact that, other than our county rivals, it was totally revamped this season, but the teams that replaced the normal opponents aren't having a very good cycle right now. BUT our Eastern Plains Coference has been ranked the number one 2A conference in the state for a number of years. So there's that.

SWE98 thanks taking it down to 10 scrimmages. You were kind to us in your recap of the SWE-Holmes game. We are beat up right now and since we played you all we are struggling. We will get better. Just need to get our players back. NE did lose 10-9 tonight to Wilson Hunt but I dont have any details.

I could tell you the details, but I'd be beating a dead horse. As far as your Aces....I wouldn't say you are struggling. You guys lost a threeheaded monster in the backfield. You have an experienced, but new to your program, coach. Seems to me at the moment your biggest problem is your center. Dude has issues snapping from the gun. Sent several over your qb's head against us in the first game, and the report is he did the same last night against Rocky Mount. 8 total fumbles, 6 in the first half? Geez. Can't move the ball without the ball. That's gotta be addressed.
