North Surry’s Coach King has resigned and is taking an assistants job at West Forsyth. He had a really good team 2 years ago, but there isn’t much there now talent wise. His kids always played very hard though.

This started to surface weeks ago. He also had his hat in at North Rowan, got by with several talented players at NS but has not had much success else where. Would think he wants to take over for West at West once he retires again.

I heard the same thing too; kinda surprised it was just for an assistant's job though but hey whatever floats his boat. He was a risky pick considering he didn't set the world on fire his first two times but considering who his dad was he was to be expected to replace Gammons when he did. He did a good job for us; but like ncb said he had good timing. It seemed to me last year he was kinda conflicted so I'm not surprised. I wish him luck; 4A ball ain't as easy as it looks.

North will be fine though. We got plenty of good kids walking the halls that might come out for the new guy that didn't under King. There will be several multi sport kids that will be much older this coming season who will have more experience to help. Also there will be a really good Freshman class coming in; they won the Surry/Stokes middle school title last year. In about 2-3 years we will be solid; maybe not '16 solid but we could make a run and do fine in whatever conference we will be in in the early 2020's (hopefully not the WPAC; maybe MVC.)

I think he lives close to West. He can make as much money as an assistant at WF as a head coach at North Surry, not spend over an hour on the road everyday, not have as much pressure on him, and set himself up to have a chance at the WF head job down the line. Easy to understand his reasoning to move. Best of luck to him in the future!
