North Davidson vs. Salisbury

Stevens being back on the defensive line alone is a big changer. Hope everybody gets healthy for playoffs.

This game will be similar to the Lexington game. Salisbury will get some yards, maybe even bust a big play once in a while. I do not believe they will score many points, certainly not as many as we will. But I respect their abilities and we can't afford to take them lightly looking ahead to Ledford.

The difference is that Lexington had a nice QB and was a threat on the ground and in the air. Salisbury is more of a pure running team and that plays into our defenses hands. If you beat this team, you need a legit passing game.

It sounds like Van-Meter is going to be back this week, also. He's really disruptive and quick to the ball. I think he and Stevens are the most critical defensive players for North. Of course Maddux Johnson has been really solid, too.

I think it will be tough to keep Salisbury off the board, but I think ND scores plenty enough to win if they are focused.

If Ledford can post a shutout against these guys then there is no reason the number 1 defense in the conference (possibly the state!!!!!) can't do the same. From what has been seen.

I usually don't go off comparitive scores but I agree to an extent. If Ledford can shut down Salisbury surely we can do the same.

I dunno about best in the state, we haven't faced a really good passing team yet but we may later. I am confident we can't be run on, at least not until the later rounds against some really talented teams.

With Stevens and Van-Meter back hard to throw it from your backside!

Indeed. I'm waiting on us to face a really good offensive line. Which is why I say late rounds.

Stephens causes a lot disruption in the backfield it’s hard to contain him one on one. Vanmeter and Johnson are swarming to the ball it’s very tough to run the ball against this defense hopefully Jackson will be back next week having him and Fulks helps control the passing game

Yes because one who is really talented back there in the secondary doesn't seem to care about playing D!!

This Van-Meter kid sounds like a baller...I'm digging that name, now only if his first name is diesel?
LOL. I can't believe he's not getting some offers. He's a junior that came up from JV in the middle of his freshman year and made an immediate impact. And from what I see, he appears to be a leader and motivator, too.

Couple of thoughts.....

College level guys.....I actually think there are quite a few guys on this current Knights team who can/will play some level of college ball. More so the guys on offense this year (Josh, TJ, Tate and/or another O lineman, Jacob), and especially next year on the defensive side (some of those guys have already been referenced (Van-Meter, Blake, Maddox, Jackson, etc)). I don't know how good the offense will be next year, but look out for that defense. Like others, I can not fathom why TJ hasn't received more offers. I definitely think that will happen, being late to explode to the scene is better than never exploding. I think he is leading the state in touchdowns as of the last MaxPreps NC rankings.

About Salisbury & beyond..... I am glad to be to this part of the schedule. Salisbury will be a good test as will Ledford. Granted I wont feel so good about the test if we lose, but they are two good teams to start the process of preparation for playoffs. Salisbury is at least as good as a 1st or 2nd round matchup and Ledford should be at least as good as a 2nd or 3rd round playoff team. I could actually see both of them playing until at least the 2nd round or deeper depending on seeds and how the 2A vs 2AA enrollment numbers work out. I believe my Black Knights are at least a Regional final team, could go all the way to Chapel Hill for that night time game (2AA plays the late game @ 7:30 that night). We have to 1) stay healthy, 2) get better each week, 3) get a few breaks or lucky bounces, 4)stay in Welcome as long as possible, 5)play a nearly flawless game in all 3 areas in those late games......Let those things happen and it will be a GDTBABK.

About Sr night.....not gonna lie, a little more than bummed. Christopher was blessed to be a Black Knight. First with Holcomb, now with Flynn, the coaching staff has been very good to him. I know they will be glad to get rid of me for being a huge pain in the butt, but I will miss it all. I know he will as well as he loves Palmer field, Brad on the PA, Enoch and Mike for game replays, the band, the fans, everything that makes High School football a great thing. Gave up on the man card a long time ago, won't lie when I tell you I will have a smile on my face but a tear in my heart during the senior night announcements tomorrow. Like so many others have already said over the years.....where did 4 years go?

They go from wide-eyed Freshmen; to last home reg season game in a hurry! I won't be able to make it tomorrow evening, unless schedule changes...goodluck to these Seniors, and thanks to all of you these last 4 years, I have enjoyed watching you all play and grow on the field! Keep getting better men, I don't think yall have reached your full potential on the field yet. Excited to see what the rest of season holds!

Soak it in, Kicked Off. We're a couple years past my son's kicking days, and he passed on the college kicking route. You have a chance to watch yours for a while longer, but there's nothing like the purity of the high school game. Enjoy every moment. And best of luck to your son. He has a special talent.

Well I sure hope people aren't expecting the Black Knights to be a one year wonder. The beatdowns might not be as bad, but the next couple of years it's gonna be hard to beat this program until the late rounds.

Well said. May God bless #32 to achieve future successes

JV is averaging 43.8 ppg and giving up 6.5 ppg with one game left.

Whew-we! MAN! Them youngins are strong!

Yeah the 4 years sure are a blur. They seem like they'll never end but you blink and they do. I can't believe it's already been so long since mine, then again, I know we all know that sad defeated feeling.

Father time slows for no man and spares no feelings.

Heard this morning that Salisbury only put 10 minutes up on clock for JV Quarters, don't know if this was ever changed....and also the clock ran on at least 10+ instances when it was supposed to stop. If both of these are true....they need to find adequate staffing that knows the rules. Also heard parents were shouting about it to let press box know but nothing changed. Can anyone confirm this was true or squash that it wasn't?

We did play ten minute quarters. The clock did seem to run at times when it should have been stopped.

Yes I am surprised TJ isn't getting more looks. But I was also shocked last year when Joe Butts didn't get more serious looks from colleges.

I'm saying compared to how they played against good teams last year, it's a world of difference. Tabor, Davie and Asheville all got shut down by the defense. Tabor had a pick six and special teams score if I remember correctly, maybe I'm wrong. And yes, playing against the CCC and 2A does make a difference.

Lexington scored 27 when there were four starters out. Not a concern at all.

I didn't mean to say they haven't played better, because they have.

is anyone recruiting the Blake Stephens kid?
