Parkland has come a long way. They had a great season last year and are looking to replicate that. Not sure exactly who they have coming back, but they have a new coach familiar to ND in Laymar Marshall, the old Mount Tabor coach who was not a big fan of ours...

The Black Knights had a great season as well but must replace almost the entire defense and offensive line.

Thoughts? I think it will be close either way but Parkland has the thing that usually gives North fits: speed.

I think this is a toss up. North could win by ten.. they could lose by 20. Just hard to say until we see how the missing pieces got filled in.

ND scores on their first possession with a TD pass while being interfered with. 7-0 with 6:45 left in the 1st qtr

Parkland qb scrambles for 13 yards, then a snap goes over his head for about negative 20 yards. A 40 yard pass is completed but Parkland wr is injured.

Parkland killing themselves with penalties and bad snaps. A punt goes 5 yards giving ND great field position .

Parkland also goes 3 and out and another 5 yard punt gives North the ball at Parkland 34 yard line.

I thought 6 but it starts in a bit at 7. Parkland has about 50 people in the stands.

What? Gosh, to hear the folks at Parkland talk, they have a lot of community support.

If you can’t put half a hundred in the stands... You can’t be successful. This should be a rivalry game.

North gets inside the 5 with a screen pass, then a couple of runs cash it in. 14-0 with 9:54 left in the half.

Parkland qb is good and quick but line gives him no protection or running game so far. He keeps having to make throws under pressure.

3 and out for Parkland, a 20 some yard punt this time. North ball at just over midfield. Roughing the passer puts it at the 34.

North can't move the ball and turns it over after 4 downs at the 28. Do we not have a good kicker this year?

Parkland gets a big play on a jet sweep to the North 36.

TD pass after batted in the air by defense and Parkland catches it. Two point conversion makes it 14-8 ND with 3:10 left before half.

Parkland kicks it short and nobody for ND pays attention or jumps on it. Parkland ball at North 36.

Parkland scores on a qb keeper. 2 pointer makes it 16-14 Parkland with 1:38 to go before half.

Coach talking to refs gets unsportsmanlike conduct. Parkland gets to kick with a short field. North starts at own 24.

North gets 3 passes completed and is at the Parkland 38 with 14 seconds, no timeouts left now.

I see a little bit of that “undisciplined” North style has reared its ugly head. First, failing to fall on a live ball when Parkland kicked off... and then a nice 15 yard penalty to end the half.

TD pass on first play for Parkland to open the half. 2 point conversion makes it 24-14 Parkland just 20 seconds into 3rd quarter.

Indeed. I like intensity but my goodness...

North getting good field position every kickoff if they just pay attention to the ball. Moving the ball with the run now, at Parkland 41 before a defensive tackle is injured for the Mustangs. Hope he's ok...

Parkland 24 north 14. Good grief, well back to reality for ND, the dream season is gone fellas.

The old issue of team speed has reared its head as well. Parkland is improved but if it weren't for bad snaps and penalties they would probably have been ahead earlier.

Penalties helping ND down the field, but having issues with the clock operator... Keeps running time off when it should be stopped to mark off yardage.

I wouldn’t be so quick to pack it in.

First, there is nothing about this North Davidson team that would mark this particular year as a potential “dream season”.

Secondly, all North has to do is make the playoffs if they are placed in the 2AA east. They’ll go deep there.
However, the risk is that they’d go 2AA WEST. No chance that North would even make the 3rd round in that bracket.
