North Davidson 48 - Thomasville 0

Hoping both teams got out healthy??? Missed the game due to work.....
North got out healthy, but they lost their best defensive player for the second half of last nights game, and he won't be able to play next week versus Lexington unless he wins an appeal from the NCHSAA. Two personal foul penalties at the end of the 1st half got him ejected.

Good. Something for Flynn to hammer the boys for. Lord knows he could use the material. Hard to be mad when your winning like this.

I still don't understand how ND is in 2a with 1300 students.
We don't exactly know either, not sure if the NCHSAA didn't want to split the conference, or what....all that is fact is, this is where they were shuffled in. I would imagine the numbers falling a bit the next few years, then settling around 1000-1100. hard to tell for sure where they end up.

That was a trash game last night. Saw some antics from the Tville players (42 and 19 to be exact) on that first extra point for us (ND) in particular has no place in sports any any level, much less high school. It's a small miracle Christopher didn't have a catastrophic knee injury on that play. That kind of hit on a defenseless player is inexcusable. One man (19) diving from 8' away and then rolling broadside into the kicker while the guy (42) rushing from the other side hits him up high and flips him straight back over the other guy. I know they called a penalty on the play, but watching Hudl, there was absolute intent to hurt someone on that play. Thomasville used to be a model/standout program. Will never wish bad things on any player, but that kind of crap has to be addressed by someone (ref, administration, coach, parent, etc). Went back and watched some of their Hudl film and didn't see that on the 2 games I could watch of them which makes that play seem even more suspect. Not sure what the goal was on that play other than to hurt a player. Just ridiculous to risk someone's future with that kind of bush league crap. If your goal was to possibly end a players season, congrats because you could have succeeded.

Good win for North, stayed focused. I don't know what happened on the personal fouls but we'll just have to keep focused without possibly having him. No rest for the weary, no one is going to feel sorry for us. So just keep getting after it...

It's my understanding and I could be wrong, but when the new school opened, the kids that play football didn't or have to switch to the new school, which gives them a ton of kids to choose from. They should be around deep into the playoffs

Not the case at all. The new school opened with 9th and 10th grade only, and the 9th and 10th graders have to go to the school in their district. All juniors and seniors are still at North Davidson. Next year, all seniors will still be at ND.

The school district would not give anyone a choice because they said that they couldn't figure out staffing levels in advance for a school if they allowed people to choose.

Like I said earlier, most of us North Davidson fans would rather be in 3A ball where we belong for the next two years. I guess the state decided they didn't want to move them between realignments.

Does anyone know if there is a precedent for schools switching classifications between realignments?

I can't recall the schools involved but I believe it has been done mid-alignment under certain rare circumstances. The school would have to petition the NCHSAA. Some factors influencing the decision is if the difference is significant enough and if it will negatively impact the school's current conference or the proposed conference, both of which must agree to the change.

Not 100% sure, but you guys were involved, I think S. Iredell was in the CPC for 2 years before Lake Norman opened then they dropped to 2A. And I think E. Rowan might have been also before Carson opened.

I seen ND against East Forsyth in the playoffs last year. Is this team better. In comparison watching Reidsville last year they would give East all they wanted. It will be tough to win 2a this year.

The ND defense is better this year, but I still would expect Reidsville to be a considerable favorite if they were to meet up. Simmons has Reidsville 10 points better, so his computer model agrees. I doubt we will find out, as most projections I have seen so far have Reidsville going small.

I expect ND to go deep, but we will eventually run into a South Point, an East Duplin, a Hibriten, etc. That's when this weak conference schedule will be a big negative, I'm afraid. You can play the ones against the ones in practice, but it's just not the same as playing tough competition on Friday nights throughout the season. We'll just have to wait and see how the kids react.
