It was 66-0 at the half. Seen some members of the band suited up at halftime to finish the game and scored a TD while playing the trumpet LOL!!! Beam sending a message early to the rest of the SD7!!!!!

Who are all the transfers?...very young squad...kind of weird seeing seniors as backups to freshmen and sophomores....

MSC117 I don't think there are any Transfers the 9 and 10th grade group has dominated on every level. Newton always seems to have those really special groups about every 4 years. I will say #4 baker is a Stud he is a senior ?

#4 Baker is a Sophomore

Wow!!!! Beam has got some cats if he is a sophomore. They face a Asheville team next week who came back to win at the PIT in my opinion the toughest place to play in the state in 2A football. Should be a great game !!!

Usually I go to the scrimmages and watch N-C practice but this was the first time I got to see them this year...Could have easily put 100 points up but played everybody which was pretty classy by Beam...good size, super fast, heard number 4 was a transfer from Vance...defense is by far great leaps better this year as I heard a old ghost from my time there is back...is it true coach Harvell is back?...will be in Tennessee next week but might come back over the hill to watch them play...It is nice to see N-C so deep at the rb and qb positions...

Probably not good to measure your size and speed against Highland Tech. Any program would look big and fast against them. Highland is probably the worst public school football team in North Carolina. It's not their fault it's because of the type of the high school it is (no feeders), they are nothing more than a club team. I have a little insight, my daughter went to high school there and I saw some of their games.

They played the future graduates of BS of Library Sciences. Highland Tech, Hickory, Central Virginia Home School Academy? Coach Bazzle would never schedule anything like that. Harvell back at N-C? Welcome home Tim. Trooper hope your right about the Freshmen and Sophomores.

Spoke to a kid in the parade Thursday and he said the youth league numbers for the Wolverines were so low they combined them with Conover. Startown, Thorton (North Newton), and South Newton youth teams have all dissolved. The future could be thin.

GDG, Harvell is back. It is true these freshman and sophomores have always dominated every level, but as we all know, they are entering a new challenge playing at this level at such a young age. What makes it more inspiring though, is that these young kids have great motivation and great work ethic to go along with their talent.

As for the youth league, numbers have been down for Wolverines and Cowboys, but mostly at the 11-12 year old age group. Both teams fielded around 14 players last year at that age group. That age group suffers so much due to the fact that middle schoolers are not allowed to play, not even the 5th quarter guys. That needs to change especially for those 5th quarter kids who need time on the field to improve. This was put in place due to the bickering between the two sides that was causing separation during middle shool practices, games, and even on the hallways at school. Now that they have combined, it should end the bickering between them and hopefully some of the kids that need the time on the field will be allowed to play in the youth league in the future. Combining has been discussed for several years. A big shout out goes to former Red Devil player Alvin Gibson and those helping him for making it happen.

GDG as far as the schedule foard and Saint both backed out playing newton in 2013 which caused them to add chase and freedom. I think Saint and Foard both saw the writing on the wall and they would rather play west Iredell then a in county rival and gate game. They are concerned about wins then keeping the Catawba county rivalries pure. Of Foard could they would drop maiden off the schedule if they could. Catawba county and Newton city schools should lock in those games. That's what a lot of counties do for revenue purposes
