Nice game by Newton-Conover. Much improved defense over the last three years. Good game by Casey Catchings #48 and monster game by Edgar Domingez #51. I dub the Domingez the Silent Assassin. 12 tackles, fumble recovery, and a sack. Two TDs called back and 6 penalties late in the game to keep it in check. I call BS.

Nice performance by the QB and #1 Alex Johnson. Johnson ran a kickoff back 78 yards. Johnson is a threat on every play. More fight in these kids than the last four years. Congrats.

Sounds like a good team out there. I hoped to try and see them play EL this year, but I believe that will be more miles than I wish to cover on a Friday night. I may get out to L-Town instead. Congrats to Beam and his team and good luck moving forward.

Godevilsgo, I noticed you are a wrestling fan. Just HS, or AAU as well?
High school. My favorite sport to watch. Love the NCAA championships. I have met a number of college national champions. Nothing like 60 fights a year to make you a man.

Dan Gable said it best. "Once you have wrestled everything else in life is easy."

Congrats to GDG and the Devils on the win against their long time rivals, and tough luck for my buddy Cheerduck.

I would guess NC has been working on defense all summer but offensively I been hearing about a speedy sophomore. I know they have considerable air potential with Stanley back so I look for them to do well this season.

I thought West Caldwell could be a challenge for them in a couple of weeks but now I'm not sure if the Warriors are up to it.

GDG, I saw where you had to conference with Heel Yes a couple of times. He seems to hardly respond, him knowing there is just too much quick wit. Good job.

The Warriors will be fine they have played the last to games without starting qb Titus Tucker

Lincolnton our Tornadoes are down right now,but they fought hard.Penalties hurt our young team more than the mighty devils. They will finish much like last year in their conference.

Yeah I love that quote and often remind my son of it, who is a wrestler for Mat Masters in Gastonia. The club won the State AAU tournament this year. We have good wrestlers from all over the area that come there to work out with the head coach Ronnie Huitt. My son and I go to HS tournaments all over when the season is in to watch the older guys compete. We love the sport as well and what it does for the youth involved in it.

Thanks for the Info, my friend. I'm pulling for them, and have been for half a century.

LOL... You're better than that, Cheerduck. N-C out gained Hky by roughly 100 on offense. Also had approximately 70 more penalty yards. But Hky beat themselves with penalties? I wouldn't normally come on here and talk about a win over a 0-3 team, but you cannot dismiss the work that our coaches and players put in by saying essentially that Hky beat themselves. It's disrespectful. You are absolutely right that your boys fought hard. The offensive and defensive lines were very impressive. #7 was like a magnet and with every ball that went his way seemed to make something positive happen.

Hickory has a ton of athletes, and with a more stable coaching situation over the past few years, would have made this a much more competitive game I'm sure.

As for N-C, I'd never venture a guess at our conference finish. This team is so much different than last year's team. There's a different kind of talent and a different kind of toughness. My only prediction for the SD7 is that the top 4 teams are very good and it will be a more competitive battle this season than we saw last.
