New Shelby head coach Mike Wilbanks has a very tough legacy to follow. Much like when Bill Guthridge replaced Dean Smith. Almost a no win situation. Wonder what the over/under of games lost will be before fans start screaming for his job? It happened at Crest with Will Clark and at Burns with Robert Senseney. Just a matter of time.

Wilbanks will be fine as long Shelby is 2A

Y’all make sure Ted Nugent knows about this hiring so he don’t feel left out....he got his feelings hurt last time:p

Perhaps not a great analogy. As head coach at UNC, Guthridge was 80-28, went to the Final Four twice in three years and was national coach of the year. Shelby should be so fortunate. Maybe the comparison you’re looking for is Gene Bartow replacing John Wooden.
Just sayin’.

I remember when Al Britt replaced the mighty Bob Lewis at Clinton, went 15-1 losing in the state championship game, had a controversy call in that game (punt or go for it) and he resigned after that game. I guess the pressure at Clinton was a little higher than at Hobbton where he previously coached.

Kinda like South Point going 2A.They win the 3A Championship and then the next year go 2A and have not made it out of the second round.Just an observation from a 2A fan.

SHS Lion and Hitman T could coach Shelby to the state next year.

One thing is for sure. No matter their record, their offense should be a WHOLE lot less predictable than Crest's.

Check fact! While you're concerned with Crest comments relative to the subject...a lion fan throws South Point into the equation.
We don't care who your coach is.
Raidersway , go get you a petition started to get South Point back up to 3A so they can win more than one playoff game .

That is a short-sided response. It would be Shelby's best interest for SP to go back to 3A. Not at all surprised to hear that from a Lion fan.

Yeah it’s nearly May! About time for seadog to get liquored up , bow out his chest and proclaim this is the year the Raiders beat the Golden Lions

Sadly and he knows this is the case this particular version of the Golden Lions may just put up more than the 40 whatever they put up on the raiders last season

Whatever makes you feel good though dog go with that!

Hey at least you got Catholic to fall back on LOL

:)

I will patiently await LA’s analysis of this year’s kitties. He is generally spot on.

No offense SL, but I’ll hit you up later on your Bulldogs.
