NCPreps Top 10 Polls - 11/12/2018

No big deal olddog77. Ya get no points in playoffs for poll ranking. See ya in a couple weeks, if we and you make it that far .....;) If ya beat us this time you can have our #5 ranking.

And for Pisgah to get the 1 seed in 2AA shows the incompetence at ALL levels within the NCHSAA. That's just STUPID! They'll get blown out in 2nd round, period. Not insulting the kids, just insulting the dumb-a$$ adults that set the kids up for MAJOR disappointment!!!

I'm predicting they play Smoky again in the second round but no matter who it is they won't get blown out. Win or lose it should be a close game.

Pisgah got the number one seed because they played a tougher schedule.Since you think we will get blowed out in second round why are you arguing about it?.

I stated my opinion, not arguing. The implication being that the defending State Champs, averaged over 55 points per game, allowed an average 8 points per game will have to travel to Pisgah if we both win out. Not to mention we beat the 9th ranked 3A team 41 to 7 in the preseason. That's called bull$hit where I'm from!

Call it what you want. What the heck does that have to do with saying we'll get blown out in the second round. I agree that your team is the favorite going in. That's not our fault. And don't worry about setting our kids up for failure, they ain't that fragile buddy. If a rant like yours isn't supposed to be taken as an insult, then just how is it supposed to be taken?

You'll just have to be insulted. I have explained my point of view, you can be butthurt, if you want. My rant was clearly directed at the NCHSAA for the blatant disrespect of the defending Champs. Now, on to football. If anyone wants to see me, My wife and I always sit at the 30 yard line on the Hibriten home side on the second wide tier going up. Join us, if you want to.

We will save you and your wife a seat on the thirty-yard line when Hibritten comes to Canton if they make it that far.

Although I would be the first one on the boards to pick Hibriten to repeat as the 2AA State Champion, and fully think the adjusted Max Preps rankings leave us all pretty much shell shocked, I would also be the 1st to say that what any team did last year should not be taken into consideration. Now I realize that it has to be, for the first polls released based on returning talent and last years performance. I am far from a Pisgah fan but if you only take this year into consideration, their strength of schedule has given them the right to take the #1 seed for this years playoffs.

As a Mtn. Heritage fan, most of us realized early in the year, especially after the MItchell game, that we would get no further love from the rankings because of our remaining strength of schedule. It was just how the cards fell this year. I assume the same thing has happened to Hibriten this year and their conference is really down (or may have been for some time now). That is why both of our teams got little respect in the final rankings. We did have 1 loss to #14 in 3A Erwin this year, but even if we won that game, we may have jumped Reidsville for the #2 spot in the playoffs, but would not have had the resume' to pass Randelman I do not believe.

It appears to have the statewide respect or at least on the adjusted rankings, Heritage needs to get into the Mountain 6 conference and Hibriten needs to try to get into the conference with Shelby and South Point. Our conference has been down for a few years and if it had been stronger, we may have gotten to host Reidsville at our place last year instead of traveling.

Now with all this said I do believe Pisgah will hit a wall and Hibriten will get to host the West Regional anyways so it will all play out. If my Cougars are not still playing, I would love to make that trip and get to see Hibriten play.

I disagree. With high school football you can very accurately forecast how strong a team will be based on last year's performance when factored in with returning players. If you really want to get technical, which many do, add into strength of the previous year's JV team. Also you have to take into account how much prestige the school has as it's no secret the teams that have already won championships are more likely to win them over teams that come out of the dark. My point being Hibriten should be #1 in 2AA without a doubt. They went undefeated last year winning the championship and return a very strong nucleus from that team. Someone should have to go to their house of to the championship game to dethrone them.

Use Simmons ratings! His computer weighs all of THIS YEAR'S factors. He has Hibriten No. 1 and Reidsville No. 2. (Last weekend's games are not figured in yet and Reidsville beat Cummings 60-0.)

Does anybody have an explanation of the MaxPreps "adjusted" rankings formula?
Reidsville is 11-0, beat two 4-A schools that are in the playoffs and beat a 3-A school that is in the playoffs. The Rams outscored its final five opponents 304-0 and are averaging 48.5 points per game while allowing 5.4. And somehow Reidsville ended up ranked No. 9 in the adjusted BS.

Notice that I'm not mentioning anything about past seasons. But, just so you know, Reidsville is 42-1 from 2016 through now – the only loss being an overtime 35-28 decision to Wallace Rose Hill. Hibriten is 41-1 in the same span, the only loss to South Point in the regional finals of 2016 by a 26-0 margin.

I am in full agreement that it would be very nice to know the calculations used for the adjusted rankings. That would shed a lot of light on the subject.
