This should be a great 3rd round match up with a rematch from last year.It is Thanksgiving week and I always love this time of year for football.

Shelby needs to clean up a few things..
Special teams still stuggling and kicking game, for life of me not sure why we keep kicking squib kick,or like onside kick......
Looks like if we cant kick it deep we just kick out of bounce....Oh well hope coaches get it worked out...D played great last night, offense not bad,to many Tos..
Hope Lee heals up more this week.
As for this game,it want be like last year.
Shelby has way to much speed, they lost alot across there lines dont belive there as good, or there D is that good...
Ill give it to Shelby 42- 14

Got to agree with you. MP not as good as last year and we're better than last year. Evidently they have no defense giving up almost 50 last night. Should be us by however much we want. I was worried about Carver....glad that one is over.

We didn't look better last night and only scored 3 more points than last year.Hendersonville scored a lot of points this year on about everybody so you can really not go by that.Must play better bottom line.

Pulling for the Tigers to give Shelby a game, but I think yall roll. Mount has done enough to get this far, but they have lots of flaws that will be exposed.

Lee again is the key to this game. If he is good to go at 90 to 100% we will be fine. If not Shelby is probably a 7 to 10 point favorite. Kicking game needs to be better. It would be nice to see an opponent start at the 20 vs the 50.
That is eventually going to get us.Just kick it out of bounds.

Looking at Mt. Pleasant stats, it looks like the offense again runs through #20 - he has 2,809 yards and 29 TDs. They also have #42, who has another 660 yards and 14 TDs rushing.

Mt. Pleasant runs 83% of the time (673 runs vs. 138 passes)

The Tigers can put a lot of points on the board, averaging 35.8 PPG.

Talked to Devine last week.....said they aren't kicking it where he tells them to. Said they just don't want to kick it out of bounds. May have the option in high school to rekick....not sure though. Both deep kickers were playing travel soccer last weekend but are supposed to be back this Friday....we have to stop giving other teams the ball near the 50. That is what lost us the Crest game.

Need to get their priorities straight lol

Their priorities is soccer. Before I do the little poach I would just kick a onsides kick where at least you have a chance to recover.

I looked up the stats from last year's Western Final, a 31-17 Shelby win. Pretty even stats:

1st downs - Shelby 17 / MP 11
Rushing yards - Shelby 37-113 / MP 38-109
Passing yards - Shelby 10-14, 174 / MP 7-15, 104

Out of 53 plays, MP only had 2 plays go for negative yardage

Shelby scored 2 rushing TDs (both by QB), 1 passing TD (85 yards to a RB), and 1 INT return TD, with a 46-yd FG from the Kicker (career long)

MP scored 2 passing TDs and a 37-yard FG

Mt. Pleasant is an average playoff team that played average teams to date. This week the jungle comes alive as the Tiger cannot avoid the mighty Lion. Not only will they get tamed, they will get eaten. They will not win pounding one player 30 plus times a game on Shelby. Hollifield at LB and the other middle kid will make sure of that.

21st time out of the last 30 years Shelby has been practicing on Thanksgiving....That's a pretty amazing stat...
Your post made me curious about Thomasville. If I counted correctly, it's 26 of the last 30. But the one that really counts is the current one. Congratulations to the Shelby Lions. I'm still stinging from that WNCHSAA finals loss in my junior year in 1968:). You guys have a program that anybody would like to emulate.

Oh, rub it in! Thomasville, uncharacteristically, had the leading receiver in the state that year. He set a record of 60 catches that stood for twenty years. Unfortunately, he decided to create an artistic display with toilet paper in the trees in the yard of the assistant principal. Thinking that wasn't quite impressive enough, as rumor has it, he waited out the manhunt for the culprit in the whirlpool at the school gym.....with a six pack.
Whether the results would have been different with the best athlete I ever played with, I can't say. But his suspension pretty much sealed the deal. Long bus ride home.

WOW! Sorry for the disappointment and the tragedy that your team mate brought upon the program. Sounds like you were a major part of your teams future. I was just posting those scores so everyone could see the history of that era.

Just a role player, Swett. Got over the disappointment long ago. But I still smile at the idea of my friend sitting in that whirlpool with a cold one, awaiting his fate. He's one of those guys that every team seems to have. More talent than anybody should be allowed to have. But he never took life very seriously. And, no matter what he did, you just had to shake your head and laugh, knowing you could never stay mad at him for long. And that, regardless, he really didn't care what you thought. The drumbeat was in his head.

HAH! LOL I have one of them right now. I go through it all the time. Somehow he finds a way to make everyone laugh. I know exactly what type you are talking about. The only exception is that he does care about life and his future.

We will be fine, we have depth at this position, but in case you guys didn't know, and I'm sure that you all do, we will be without three receivers this game. Star receiver Jayden Borders, Darius Fuller, and Kavacia Shell are all out this game. Borders and Fuller are out for disciplinary reasons. Shell is out with a concussion. "Next man up"!

First I have heard of this. This is a big WOW. A starting QB with a hobbled leg and three top receivers not playing changes quite a bit. I expected Shelby to cruise, not have to battle their way into the next round. The loss of Borders alone is a good for a 10 point swing.

I would be more concerned, bros, but I just don't see anyone in all of 2A just lining up and running at us. Mount Pleasant is a formidable opponent, but being one dimensional will not cut it versus us. I look for Wright and Camp to have huge games tonight.

Yeah, I will be there, bro, have to take advantage of being off from work. I will see you there.

So instead of a 55-7 final score it is now narrowed to 42-14. No worries. Enjoy the win.

Noticed over on the other site, the broadcaster said something along the lines of putting eight in the box now..... Please do....

Borders is a huge loss for tonight, but Camp, Truck and Wright are still in there and can catch it and take it all the way at any time..... Still like our chances...

Hope whatever Borders and Fuller did, they realize what a position they put their team in and learn from it

In 2AA this might have been a Shelby vs East Lincoln game in this round. Imagine that with this scenario.
