What happened to Mt Airy’s football field? Heard they had to completely re sod entire field. Will it be ready by 1st game?

They just need to get a Turf Field by the 2024 season. I am sure there would be plenty of backing from the community for this project. I can just picture it with MOUNT AIRY at each end zone a Bears head at the 50 yard line.

Seems like there might be some changes over there. Looks like things are coming to a head between the Mount Airy youth foundation and the superintendent.

Seems I heard several years ago there were different kinds of football shoes to wear on turf. I may be wrong. Maybe schools like Mitchell or others can chime in on the Pros & Cons of turf.
Word is they are putting that money behind running for the school board. That's in November isn't it.? She'll definitely be gone. Probably good riddance but it's a shame they can't work out their differences. That's a long time. Of giving money.
It is still hard to believe for me. I have known her husband since he was a kid at the school, whose name should not be mentioned and there is no finer person.

The MA superintendent is one of the top in the state. She has done a great job at MA. Sounds like Youth Foundation who has done an awesome job over the years is a little butt hurt. Work it out guys bc only ones to suffer in this is the student atheletes at MA. At end of the day it is about them!!!!!!! I think both her and the Foundation are great for MA!
As for the field they had to spray it after soccer. It had mold or something. It killed the grass. Coach Adkins worked his butt off plugging it etc. and its in pretty goof shape. Has some dead sod in places but should be good to play on.
So one person was not allowed to participate in an event sponsored by The Foundation for the school. Now The Foundation is requesting the Superintendent's removal before they will "play ball" with the system again.
The Foundation is going to look like complete idiots if it is found the person kept from the event is being removed for valid legal reasons.

I’m sure he has been working hard. Spayed the the wrong thing and killed the grass. Hopefully will be ready. They have already delayed youth league season because of it.
I have no idea about the terms of the superintendent’s contract in Mount Airy. But the only time Thomasville got rid of one, it cost the system $200,000. Any superintendent worth his or her salt will have a significant buyout clause for anything other than conviction of a felony or moral turpitude. Pretty standard.
There seems to be a communication problem between MAYF & the Super. MAYF has done some wonderful things with their contributions. This is a very effective and respected Superintendent. I sincerely hope everything gets worked out, but it doesn't sound promising.
She was Superintendent of the year in NC few years ago.

I am not a member of the Youth Foundation Board but I have been a regular and consistent financial supporter of the MAYF. I also consider myself a friend and supporter of the Superintendent and the Principal of the high school.
I do hope and ask that the City School Board, Superintendent and Youth Foundation Board meet and work though the issues at hand. Believe me, please, that this issue was not taken quickly or lightly by the Board, based upon the conversations that I have had with several of them.
Sometimes decisions can be made, trying to do the right thing, for what appears to be for the right reasons, and yet be completely wrong or improper. Not once but several times.
I do not believe this is a misguided application of the old "he who has the gold makes the rules". Rather, if you want the continuation of the gold being provided by many, it probably would not be a bad idea to have discussions with them at various times about working together.
I hope those discussions can be had, if they have not already started.

Shame on the person that put that letter on preps and the ones putting it on facebook. There are three sides to every story.... the left the right and the Truth! All the facts are not in this letter it is a one sided opinion of a Foundation President with a vendetta and thirst for getting credit for being a volunteer!
Well, the Foundation President may have shortened his reign as Foundation President, and maybe some others that signed those letter ! !

I don’t understand why posting a link to a letter that I thought was public knowledge is such a shameful thing. I don’t have a dog in the fight and don’t have an opinion on who’s right or wrong. The only thing I know is from people I work with and people I know close to the school. I figured it was public knowledge cause they all knew about it. I posted it because I thought it was relevant to his comment about it being a community project and the biggest community fundraiser in that area is in a very public dispute. I apologize if I offended anyone with that reply.
Man, you should be on the 2A board. That dude from SWO done had like 3-4 names after being banned.
