What’s your thoughts on the Mountain Foothills 7 this year? Hendersonville going to repeat? Chase has a lot coming back. It looks like Polk County also has a lot coming back. Brevard will probably always be decent. RS Central lost a lot of athletes, but they will have a full offseason with the new coach. Patton will struggle. East Rutherford gets to play again, but will be very young….unless the players that transferred to Chase go back to East! Those darn Chase Cavaliers lol!!

It’s REAL early, but I think Hendersonville and Chase are going to be really tough. Polk County too. A lot will depend on Hendersonville’s coaching choice. According to the “Hendersonville New Coach” thread, some players might leave and that might have an effect on who their next coach will be. Like Hilltoppers said, RS Central lost a lot of talent, but I think they will be competitive. They will have more depth this year and less players playing both ways.

Here’s how I think it will play out, with RS Central surprising a few people next year. Conference record in ( ) ‘s

1. Chase (5-1)
1. Hendersonville (5-1)
3. RS Central (4-2)
4. Polk County (3-3)
5. Brevard (2-4)
6. East Rutherford (1-5)
7. Patton (0-6)

Think we should revist this now that the hiring hoopla is over? With an in house guy and not making changes according to him, what do you guys think?

Still think Chase is the front runner with the kids they have coming back. Hendersonville could win it too if they can find a qb for the offense. RS could give everybody issues cause of their offense, but I would say 70/30 Chase/Hendersonville

Hendersonville has a lot back also. Keep that in mind. I know I am biased but still🤩🤩🤩

I'll go with CHASE too, I think the JV QB will be an improvement from last year. I'm going with Polk as #2 Weaver is a difference maker. They have a lot coming back too, Their qb is best returning qb in the conference. Hendo has a lot coming back but QB and Coach loss hurts their momentum. They have been well coached and you hope that will continue. RS gets nod over Brevard. Brevard has new coach and a few players transferred. Patton and ER is a toss up to me. ER having no varsity experience gives the nod to Patton. Should be a few games that will be fun!

Everyone is losing SOMETHING. All of the other skill guys are back though, along with the line. QB wise, they always figure that situation out. Every time we lose a good one to graduation, all you hear is about that, and the next kid steps in and does fine. I also think the new coach will be fine as well. If the kids wanted to play for him, then he should be ok.

I agree everybody is losing something, but losing a D1 QB and a top notch HC it is tough to try to come back from that. is it doable yes. Hope the best for the ole Cats!

RB from chase is probably best athlete in conference. I think they'll be dangerous, until they meet Shelby or reidsville in playoffs haha

If Hendersonville can keep improving there blocking and tackling like the last 2 years the Bearcats will be very hard to beat it.
Hendersonvilele is a sleeping. And are als0 gaint if they have improved in the trenches​

One thing to keep in mind about Hendo, from what I’ve heard, one of their receivers will now be the qb. That will take away some of the outside threat. I have no idea if he is a true qb and can throw. Either way it will really hurt them losing last year’s qb and having one of his receivers not playing receiver anymore. Other than that, they have almost everyone back, so it will be between Hendo and Chase to win it. Polk is definitely going to be tough again. Angus Weaver is the real deal. He can hit a baseball too ha ha!!! Like I said in my first post RS Central will be competitive, and like Hilltoppers said, I think they will surprise a couple teams this year, either in conference play or non-conference.

I agree it does hurt them. losing a good coach too also hurts alot. I would love to see how Hendersonville's new hire plays out in his first head coaching position. Hope he stole sosbee's brain! haha

If he has been there with Sosebee, I would hope he has been soaking up knowledge. As far as the qb...I find it hard pressed that someone yall have heard this from has any inkling what they are talking about. How could anyone know that in May hahahaha. The coach probably doesn't know yet.

Let's say it it true though, it makes them more dangerous with a mobile threat at qb right? You want a dangerous receiver touching the ball EVERY PLAY??? If I coach defense and we play them, I don't.

Good coaches have some kind of plan on who the QB will be. The last part it depends if the kid can throw . IMO if they get into some wing t stuff it will help benefit them because they have the kids to dominate in that offense

You‘re right, I definitely don’t know. I just know one of your players and their dad pretty well. I’m sure he doesn’t really know either, but that is what his son is telling him. We’ll see, and like I said, Hendo is still going to be really good even if they never throw the ball and run QB power or QB sweep every play lol.

I’m interested to see if Hendo will be able to stop the triple option next year. They struggled with my 2-5 Hilltoppers team. RS will be better this year and will be more than one dimensional on offense. The defense will be a little different, so we’ll see how that goes. I can say this also. This will be the first time in years RS will have 5 starting OL players and 4 different starting DL players. A couple of the OL will probably play on the DL for a series here and there or in certain situations, but that will be huge considering how many skilled players RS lost.

They might be better on defense this year because I think their offense will not be like it has been in recent years, so maybe they load up on defense and play keep away on offense.

Styles make fights. Sometimes ppl just play well against you. RS struggled against the pass too. It happens.

But my predictions are usually wroung so who knows .
I'm just ready for some football .

Seen some of Hendo in 7 on 7's they are certainly not lacking for athletes. If they get quality line play, they will be tough.

I think this league is a 3 team race between Hendersonville, Polk, and Chase. Hendersonville has the best team coming back. The only question would be how much does losing their coach affect them? Polk will be very well coached and has about their entire team back as well. Chase has some really good players back and could make it interesting.

Sounds like some things just didn't vibe right with former guy. I do know that Coach Russ is giving it everything he's got to try and build that ER program back up.

RS seemed undisciplined last year, you seemed certain they would destroy McDowell. I'm going to try and make the trip down for week 1 against my titans. I think we will be so-so. We have more athletes than usual but the lines are a question mark.

From what I hear Titan, many teams are suffering from a lack of linemen. It may not be a detriment to you early. Obviously against other 4a schools it could be a problem because they should have enough kids to have superior line play

I can say this with 100% certainty that RS will not have the undisciplined problem this year. Our strength will be up front and hopefully the team will get behind that. No starting OL will start on the DL, and that is HUGE! We’ll see how it goes this year. I do think it will be a better season.

Not to bring up an old thread but playing catch up here. Cogdill at Chase has done a fantastic job getting that school excited about football and has the kids playing well and hard. Hate to see East Rutherford so poor. They used to actually have some quality teams and give Shelby fits on occasions. This new AD hopefully isnt too prideful and will find somebody better to build the program back up. ER may need to take a complete rebuild and start with admin and work its way down.
