Monroe vs Concord Robinson

#10 Robinson (10-1 (5-0)) finished 1st in their conference and outscored opponents 36-8. Won in dominant fashion over West Stokes 33-14 and have had quite the hot streak coming into the playoffs that continued through the first round.

#7 Monroe (7-1 (4-0)) finished 1st in their conference and outscored opponents 42-11. They really came out and played much better after halftime, beating Lincolnton 57-13.

Robinson is a solid team and will give Monroe all they want. Monroe is truly a second half team...and from what I seen was the same way last year. Maybe they liked being smacked around first - or - maybe their coaching staff is that daggum good at adjustments. I'm predicting a tied halftime score 14-14. Monroe will pull away in the second half again and win...one Friday night Monroe will meet a team that they can't adjust for...but I don't believe it will be this Friday night. Monroe 35 - Robinson 26.

If Monroe keeps falling behind in first half of games sooner or later it’s gonna catch up with them especially in the playoffs, and this could be that game…32- 28 Robbinson

This one will depend on if Robinson is up for playing or not. I watched a lot of the game they had with West and I wasn't that impressed. They let West stay around for too long running the ball and their offense didn't look that good besides times when they got loose. West outhit and hearted them for a lot of the game but Robinson's speed when they got loose wore them out by the end. But West did score 14 on them; including a pass Robinson wasn't a bit ready to defend. Their conference wasn't good and they haven't had many challenges all year; their staff has got to do a better job getting them ready because Monroe will be the best team they have played in almost 2 months. A lot of that isn't their fault as you don't pick your conference but you have to coach the kids to overlook a team's skill or lack of skill and to play every team like they are the same. Consistency is key at this level. It's hard to get but when a program gets it fully with the speed they got.. oh boy.

Monroe has always been one of the best coached programs in the state and they can play even the fastest teams hard if they overlook them. That HP Andrews team 8 years ago was way better but Monroe outcoached them and almost pulled that upset off.

I think Monroe will be fine here as long as they come out strong or in worst case just dominate late. If they play sloppy it will be rough. Robinson will be a team to watch going forward especially if in another year they get a tougher schedule. Right now they have 3A athletes playing teams with hardly anyone to stop them. If Mount Pleasant can find a HC to get them going that might change things, but if not Robinson will have a nice 4 year run dominating that conference. If they can figure out how to stay consistent they will be a dark horse next year.
