Reidsville had an open date, so the other teams had at it:
Cummings 31, Bartlett Yancey 24
Carrboro 33, Graham 7

Reidsville will return from a long layoff next Friday against Bartlett Yancey. Rams haven't played since the 70-0 romp over Carrboro on Oct. 5 and haven't seen home turf since beating W-S Reynolds on Sept. 7. Crazy schedule.

This is such a terrible conference....2 of the schools don't even play football...Hope the Good Lord redeems us out of this conf....lol....the schedule maker needs to make sure the Rams don;t ever have to play FOUR straight on the road again...that's really off the beaten path..............................

One of these teams will be in the playoffs as a No. 2 conference seed. We'll find out how good Reidsville is or how bad the No. 2 Mid-State team is.

Hopefully McMichael and Morehead will be granted 2-A status midway through this 4-year realignment and the conference will be redrawn to include Cummings, Graham, BY, McMichael, Morehead and Reidsville. That will allow Reidsville to get a couple more non-conference foes (although most possible opponents are running away) and eliminate the trips to Durham and Orange counties.

Would be great but will never happen.

They just don't make realignments after two years.

I'm told that it was (or will be) considered since McMichael and Morehead both requested it.

I spoke to an official at Morehead yesterday afternoon. He indicated theyre in the middle of the review process now. There's a state level committee that reviews the request. When the last realignment was decided 3 ot 4 years ago they were at something like 1100 students. They're currently around 760.
Here's the disturbing news. The state has long range attendance forecast. '22-'25 numbers show Reidsville and Morehead in 550-600 range. That's concerning on many levels. Not only from an athletics standpoint, but it paints a bleak economic outlook for RC.
I'd love to see McMichael and Morehead in our conference. I hope the county leadership can bring back some industry and jobs to our county.

The kids seem to be staying home from a athletic standpoint so far

It will be interesting to see the ADMs next month.

In 2017, the count was:
Morehead 915 (peaked at 1211 in 2004 and declining ever since)
McMichael 995 (peaked at 1071 in 2006 and at least 1031 until last year)
Reidsville 743 (peaked at 965 in 2003)

These numbers were from carolinapreps.com and they go back to 2001.

No jobs = No people = No students.

Long term outlook for Reidsville is probably a lot better than for Eden.

When US29 finally becomes I785 it will open the door for many, many companies and industrial operations to consider Reidsville. Don't know when I785 is supposed to begin interstate construction.

Also, with the better routes, Reidsville will be even better positioned as a bedroom community. Homes in Reidsville can be had for a fraction of the price of similar homes in Guilford County.

That should be a big attraction for Reidsville. 20-30 mins from jobs in Greensboro, Danville, and Burlington. With the new connector off 29, I can get to Carter Finley in Raleigh in just over an hour.
