Congrats to ML and SP on a very successful season. ML and staff did a great job with this group of young men. SP improved by leaps and bounds since game one. Crest had the chance to put the game away early, but was unable to do that due to penalties and lack of execution on offense. But you must give SP defense credit. They came to play. SP offense had more success against the Crest defense than any other opponent this year. The purpose of this post is directed to those fans at SP who have questioned ML play calling or coaching not only last night, but at other times this year as well. I just want to say to those who have a problem with ML need to know how to appreciate a good coach. ML is well respected across the state by his peers and considered one of the best at his craft. The Red Bone is unique and ML is a master at running it. Those talking about predictable play calling obviously don't know or understand a lot about football or the triple option. You do what you do in the Red Bone and it is what it is. I'm just saying from another fans perspective from the outside looking in, you're very fortunate to have a great coach and one of the best in the business to lead your team. Only a fool would think otherwise. I barely know Mickey and I'm sure as heck not a SP fan, but I do have a tremendous amount of respect for ML and the SP program. Once again, you better count your blessings and appreciate what you got.....Mickey does more with less.....

Well put. South Point is blessed with the best coaching staff in the State. We're often smaller, slower and less athletic at most positions yet we continue to win. Additionally Mickey teaches character to these boys and wins and loses with class.

We ran into ML today at lunch and congratulated him on a great season. He was somewhat down but is very proud of the team's improvement this season. He recognized that sometimes you are not the better team and can't win every game. He is comfortable that SP gave it all they had but it just wasn't enough. Certainly not due to any lack of effort. He also said they threw everything in the book at the Crest defense but could not exploit a weakness anywhere.

I for one (and I know not nearly the only one) am very proud to have Mickey Lineberger as SP's head coach. He has dedicated his whole career as a player and coach to make SP football what it is. He is a fine man and nobody is more dedicated to doing what they do. To get the results out of this team this year is probably one of his best coaching jobs in his long career. You just can't say enough about Mickey and his whole staff and what they are able to do with often less talent than the opposing teams.

It is a great day to be a Red Raider and we are very fortunate to be where we are in the high school football world.

The game last night was truly a classic for both teams involved, simply for the effort and will power they both exhibited. Just think, in eight months we will be right back at the same place taking on the defending state champs on the Crusty Nag's home turf. Get some of that Chargers!

I played for Mickey, along with others on this board, and I have the utmost respect for the man! Sp had a great season and has nothing to be ashamed of. Mickey and the boys will work hard and be ready again next year!!

We in Belmont have been blessed with not only a great fan base, but a greater coaching base. Forty pluz years, coaches are connected through 4 Head Coaches! Thanks Coach B, Coach T , Coach D, and Coach L. I would walk many a mile for any and all of them. Run that Redbone all day!

Great post, 73! Mickey is truely one of the best in the business.

Good to see some of you posters Friday night.
Even better to beat the Raiders twice in one year. WOW.
I told Rulz before the first game I could care less about winning a State Championship. Just wanna beat the Raiders!
Raiders got better every game and brought a much better team to the Ranch. Much better. You guys really turned things around.
See ya next year. We are gonna make it three in a row baby!

You better just skip that championship game next week and spend it preparing for the Redbone next year! We are already preparing and will have an extra week on ya. Good luck next week. Enjoy the spoils of victory.

Mickey has done a great job with the SP offense. When the redbone is working it is a thing of beauty. Watching the GT QB run that offense against FSU last night was a lot of fun. You need a fundamentally sound O line, good blocking skill players, and a QB who can make good quick decisions. With that you can beat an otherwise superior opponent. Mickey does it as well as anyone in the state.

SP is a great program. I know it does not seem like we respect each other on this site, but you all are great fans. I was impressed with your young men Friday night. They played like SP. ML, is as good of a coach as there is, and he did not have the talent he usually has, yet his coaching and those players hearts made them far better than what I expected to see.

I hope we continue to play each other for as long as we continue to play football. Lastly, I'd like to give a shout out to D1 Tanner Muse. That kid plays with attitude, and some don't like it, but I watched him play almost every down on offense and defense. He took some serious shots, but he kept getting up and kept giving 100%. He can dish it out too. I wish Tanner much success whether it be on the football field, or the diamond, or both.

You SP fans have a Merry Christmas. See you next year, Lord willing.

Respect!

"To whom much is given, much is expected."

One has to look very far into the past to find an SP player who did so much and received that level of criticism. The truth is that Belmont is not used seeing prospects of his calibre and the microscope was always fixed on him as a result. The emergence of Tanner Muse as an offensive threat played a big part in turning the season around. We were very lucky to have him and I wish him the very best at Clemson.

To seadog.......For all the mileage you got out of it........33 left the field with a Cramp. .......HAHAHAHA.....Just thought i would throw that out there.

Yea, we noticed that too. I have to say, cramps were at a minimum Friday night. Only our #33 and your #8 who faked death one time and was back at full strength on the field a few plays later.

Hope we get #8 back this week he had ice on that knee the second half and didn't come back into the ballgame!

Good luck to my Crest pals!!!

Mickey is an easy target for those who don't know him but for those who do you might as well say something bad about Jesus Christ. They ARE brothers you know! You can see them both at South Point Baptist Church this Sunday.
