Let's hear some discussion. Looks like the biggest 2A game this week. Maiden has been putting up a lot of points lately. Could see a high scoring game. Will their starting QB be back for this game?

As for East. With 25 wins in a row and not losing at home since 2011, I'm mainly concerned about them being focused. It just seems like at times they play at half throttle against mediocre teams. They better come out ready to play in this one. Maiden has looked sharp.

This should be an amazing game to watch, play in, prepare for, and hear about afterwards. I'll be there when the gates open.

Elincoln - Caleb will be back for sure this week...he played last Friday against West Lincoln for most of the game to stay loose but didn't start. Coach's did right to bring him back in slowly to see how the shoulder held up.

Maiden has looked good this year all around. Defense is suspect at times but has surprised me all year and pulls through with turnovers when needed. The sole loss to South Caldwell boiled down to being out-coached for most of the game and South's size proved to be too much. Size shouldn't be a problem against EL but matching speed on speed is key. We were able to stop NC's passing game...but we had help from the rain. This game will be all offense with the better defense sealing off a win.

What can you say about EL that hasn't been said/seen already? Good team with a good offense with a good coaching staff and a defense that pulls through when needed. I've never seen a mistake in the past four years that I've watched Maiden vs EL and I doubt I see one this Friday.

Hopefully Maiden's D can force a couple of turnovers...with that being said, as long as our offense stays on pace I can see the upset of the year this Friday. It will be hard to do at EL but forcing a couple of mistakes and not making any yourself will give Maiden a big win over the powerhouse Mustangs.

GO BLUE! Maiden wins by only a few...37-35

Big game that will help determine the top couple seeds in the west. If you want to see some speedsters, this is the game. Maiden- Huff, Farley, Mayfield. East Lincoln- Surratt, Banks, Dollar. This is going to be a high scoring game.

I've watched Maiden's QB on hudl and was very impressed with his speed. Talent wise this game is close but Byus seems to get every ounce out of E Lincoln. I'll say EL 35 Maiden 21

I'll take my mustangs, cuz I couldn't imagine picking someone else... But I think this could be a great test for east. Tough final games for maiden, east and then lincolnton, was frank the tank sleeping when they drew for schedules?

This should be a good one, Maiden has been in the thick of it last couple of years, 2 yrs ago had a good team that EL beat twice, last year Maiden was young and the RB was out after the 2nd quarter and they seemed lost after that, this year seem to be running on all cylinders and a team the Maiden faithful are excited about, big o line, athletic QB who throws pretty well, strong RB, and a defense that has stepped up to the challenge the last few weeks. EL has steadily improved every week and hopefully will continue, there is still a lot of growth out there for this team and every opportunity is going to make them better. Good luck to the Maiden folks, on a side note EL school groups are hosting a trunk or treat from 6-7 in the parking lot for you guys bringing young kids.

I love seeing everyone say EL will win big (by 27; 14; 14; 21) which isn't a problem and I can understand why...but what is your reasoning behind it? Why won't this game be closer? Does Maiden stand a chance at all to anyone else?

Maiden has a chance. The thing that impresses me this year about East Lincoln is the coaching job. EL is very good at forcing the d line away from the middle and the center and guards making key blocks on the linebackers. Surratt has had big gaps to get out six yards from the line of scrimmage where he uses his skills to make long runs. The line at East may not be their best but these kids have been well coached.

Defensively the line is very tall and find the ball quickly. Maiden backs like to force the pursuit outside where they can use their speed with Huff and Farley. Both have good cutting ability which give defenders a problem. Defensively Maiden's linebackers need a big game.

I'll say EL but it will be much closer than many think IMO! I know that EL's Offense is almost near impossible to stop but like @Godevilsgo said in his comment the Maiden LB's need to have a huge game if they look to pull of this upset

This game may be closer than love bugs making love in the wide open air.

The only difference between these 2 teams is Maiden does not have that go to receiver....maiden will not give up but east comes away with a 10 point victory. ...

I like the scoring comparison....but the 4th quarter averages are outliers for these two teams seeing as the foot was taken off of the gas pedal in a majority of their games.

Either way you're looking at similar scoring offenses as far as points go against similar oponents.

Swett, was this bases off of total games or just conference games?

A go to receiver is not the only difference between these teams. I haven't seen Maiden play this year (I will next week). In fact, I've only seen 20 or so teams. But the major difference between EL and every other team in the state is East has Chazz Surratt and no one else does. I don't wanna take anything away from the rest of their team, they are solid at about every position. But Surratt is the biggest difference maker in the state. You could put him on Bandys, Bunker Hill, NL, etc. and I feel sure any of them would have 6 or 7 wins by now, if not more. I'll take EL by 3-4 TDs.

Coaching is another major difference. Not to take away from Maidens staff but I believe East has one of the best in the state. Top five IMO.

Long night for the Maiden Blue Devils. Looks like Chazz Surratt will break the Chris Leak record for TDs by the next game. Another 50 plus game for East Lincoln. 56-28 final.

Caleb Farley is something. He looked a lot like Chazz running the ball and his passing was better than I expected. I hope Maiden is on the opposite side of the playoff bracket from us. I think they would have a chance to surprise a high seed. I also think they can beat Lincolnton. I'll be rooting for them next week.

East just keeps getting better every week. We had a ton of penalties and 2 or maybe 3 turnovers. if they could cut all that out I think we can beat anyone.

We need to get healthy if we want a chance to beat Lincolnton next week. I don't think I have ever seen a high school football game with so many injuries. If Chazz is a 4 star recruit, I would hate to see a 5 star (unless of course he was on my team).

I hope none of your injuries were serious. We lost #20 after half. Not sure but I hope he's okay.

Surratt is just good at all aspects of the game. He is surrounded by teammates that believe in him and make his efforts easier to execute.

I'll just say this game wasn't our Mustangs BEST. Chazz may have thrown a couple interceptions, but he more than makes up for that. How about #8 with 3 TD's and Dalton On WBTV's catch of the week... Last week Chazz was 19 for 19 every game won't be perfect but these kids give it all they've got.
#20 checked out ok, nothing broken.... Thank the Good Lord. Hope all injured athletes have a speedy recovery.
