Just wanted to say I was proud of the Wolves' effort. We tried everything we thought might have an effect. We tried ball control and even slowing the game down. Hats off to Coach Byrd and staff and to our team. We gave it all we had but just too much offense and too much defense. Way too many weapons, both ways.

We kept them from scoring in the second half until the final minute and we had a chance to score on them but their bend but don't break defense was having none of it. We aggravated them some but they were just too much.
I saw Maiden play Christ School the second Friday in September. They looked good, then, but I could see even more improvement tonight, particularly in the backfield, a bunch of speed and quickness. Rhodes is a really smart quarterback.

*Postal Script: This evening, I had the pleasure of meeting Blue Devil super-fans GrizzlyDevil and Maiden Creek. All I can say about them is what fine people. It was an honor guys. I hope it isn't the last time I get to see you. A big congratulations to you and the Maiden faithful. Hope you can keep it going and even bring home a title.

You are sump’em else! Lincolnton. Great game!….the Wolves gonna be a tough out.
Yalls’ game against West Lincoln next week is gonna be a doozy of a game! Can’t wait to see how the Wolves do!
Best of luck to you and your Wolves!

We will meet again….over a meal soon!😉

Maiden turned the ball over twiced in the redzone Lincolnton gave Maiden a game. With only 5 seniors I see Lincolnton being a very dangerous team next season. Maiden didn't look as sharpe as last week and could've been in a dog fight Congrats to Coach Byrd these kids are getting better Week by week

dagoob, I'm so sorry I missed you. Thanks for coming to our game and I hope you'll come again to Lincolnton. I, myself, am an old rack boy and have heard about the premier nine ball wizard, Luther Lassister.
Hope you and yours were able to get some rest and recuperation. Have a safe trip back to Elizabeth City.

Thats a nice stadium lincolnton. .Hope you guys can get your support back up.
Thanks tarheel fan1. Attendance picks up a little as the game goes on. You should see it during a winning season. We get a lot of complaints about it being cold, especially in November and December, but all-in-all it's a pretty good stadium.

I said I wasn’t going to post anymore on preps and I’m not but we were already up there so that’s why I’m posting on this thread. We drove 5 hours and spend 3 days in the area. Shopping and just sight seeing. We did stop in a nice pool room in Arden called Fat Cats. We enjoyed the game. The stadium was the best high school stadium that I have ever been to. I loved the atmosphere and high school football Friday nights in the west is a far cry from what I’ve ever experienced where we live. The Lincolnton band was the best I’ve ever heard. @Darkhorse04 The press box at Lincolnton was massive. lol. The stadium gives you small college vibe. @Wizard of the East The stadium was amazing. I liked it better than Darkhorse stadium. We had an awesome time at the football game. The only thing that sucked was the food. It was the worst. 😂 The game was much closer than the score indicated imo. The 6’3 quarter back for Maiden was really good as well as their kicker! I would like to have seen Lincolnton mix it up more by passing the ball some and not wait until the last 5 minutes of the game.

I couldn’t agree more!….not surprised by any of it either! Lincolnton-Maiden game…you just never know!😉

That band is fantastic! Goob. The view on top of the press box is different experience as well…I’ve been fortunate enough to have enjoyed that view.
I’ve always enjoyed going there…and yet…I’ve always dreaded it too!

dagood, thank you so much for your kind comments about our stadium and band. The man who owned the pool room in our downtown died last year. His game was nine ball, too. He would never have admitted it but deep down inside he believed he could have taken LL (He couldn't have), but he was that confident. your posts reminds me of him. I hope you won't stop posting. Heck, even the Wizard is picking the Eagles to represent the east.

MC, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Come back to Lincolnton, anytime. about that area around the stadium, I grew up around there and still live in that neighborhood. I'm glad you got to go into or on top of our press box.

I watched the game. I felt the difference in the game was that Mauden made the big plays when needed. The Wolves had a good game plan. Maiden had 8 possessions of offense. Not to mention that the Wolves stalled or turnover the ball over in the red zone in 3 or 4 occasions. I just wonder if LHS had scored in the 3rd Qtr , how Maiden would have responded. In all actuality, Maiden has an all star team . They are so good about bringing in new players that last week a Hough kid moved in on Wednesday and played on Friday. I hear they are after two of Bunkers kids and Draughn’s QB for next year. Not to mention that Newton’s wide receiver was thought to have been coming to Maiden before this season. Anyway maybe they will win a playoff game or two. I expect to see them playing Hendersonville, Shelby, Salisbury or Reidsville in the 3rd round . Number 1 the running back was the difference tonight. There again he should be at Bandys but of course they don’t run spread . Maiden runs Catawba county and don’t forget that .
Kids move all over the state. Nothing new. Especially to winning programs. Maiden is winning. So they are a hot name I’m sure

Have you spoken to #1 and his family about why he transferred?

I know the Lincolnton tradition. That’s why I didn’t like seeing that

#1 's dad is a great man. Does a lot for the county. And his mom is a sweet woman, and always treats my nephew with a mother's love. #32 is the only kid that's come in that I haven't spoken to personally.

The one thing that is great about this Maiden team is how they are good at all facets of the game. They improve every week which is what you want . I just think it’s so hard to contend with the university of NC at Shelby, Reidsville Rams and Salisbury. The CVAC is a tough conference but it’s hard to compete with those schools. I think Maiden and Hendersonville are two solid schools . Btw: The QB Maiden is extremely good. Just wonder if he will play on Saturdays .
Our QB has 1 offer I know of.

I think in 2016 if Reidsville and Lincolnton played ten times that one team probably wins 6 and the other team wins 4. It just happened to be Reidsville’s day and the wet conditions didn’t help the Wolves who never adjusted. CVAC can and will compete in a single 2A it will be tough, but they will line up and try to beat the big dogs. I remember playing AL Brown and Coach Smith came in and said one day I’m going to tell you that you cannot win. Today is not the day. We didn’t win, but we knew as well as he that we could play with the Wonders.

Yes sir, I’m a junkie and I was absolutely in heaven at that stadium. I went there Thursday to get a look at the complex and field and I swear I thought I’d never find it. It’s hidden down in a valley or something with trees and a winding backroad hiding it. The field was in excellent condition as well. Another plus was that your speakers 🔊 weren’t blown 😂 like ours here in Elizabeth City. The only thing better about gameday here in EC is that our place is lit 🔥 during pregame warmups. The music is pumping very loud and our players and coaches are always fired up when they take the field, I’m not sure how to describe it but our warmup routine is entertaining. We also visited Maiden and ate at a restaurant that was recommended and it was very good. We went to Maiden High School and I got out and went to the field, it was so much better than what we have here, extremely clean and well maintained. They love their fb in Maiden and it was never more evident than when I went in the hardware store downtown and the guy behind the counter was asking me about my NE fb attire and why I was in Maiden. He wouldn’t let up lol, he knew his hsfb and was very helpful to us. Crazy thing is that I almost switched up and went to the Shelby game at the last minute, glad now that I didn’t. Thank y’all for being great hosts even though we didn’t meet, like Maiden Creek stated earlier, I was just trying to lay low up there on those concrete bleachers amongst hundreds of Blue Devil faithful.

Daagoob,

I'm awfully glad you liked it here and sincerely hope you will come back. You and family or friends are always welcome here. I wish I'd have known you wanted to see the stadium area. I live on Linwood Drive which is just up the street from it.

For the sake of a little trivia a Revolutionary War battle was fought there. Maybe I should say a battle connected to the revolution was fought there. It was mostly local people (Not British versus the Continental Army), but locals with political differences. It was a brief battle which was over in the span of a morning but it was pretty bloody. In one instance one of the combatant's killed his own brother. There are a number of graves around there including a fairly large common grave across the street from the press box. It's on the campus of Battleground Elementary school. It was called the Battle of Ramsour's Mill fought on 06/20/1780.

Just wanted to say that I admire you for deciding to go somewhere, especially with what you experienced recently with the loss of your Father. I wish I would have done that. It gives someone a little time to think.
When I talked with the Maiden posters last night both wanted to know if I'd seen or heard from daagoob. Like me, they were glad you got to visit.

Wish we'd have ran in to each other awhile back. I would have introduced you to the owner of our local pool room. In the same way I think about you, he too was not a typical guy. He bought his pool room when he was sixteen. I won't go into other things about him but he was exceptional.
Hope you and your wife found some rest, and some fun.
Good luck to your Eagles.

Yes sir I needed the time away. Thur night my wife and I played at a large poolroom in Arden Nc. It was so nice and it was what my father wanted to build but couldn’t afford. I don’t show my emotions very often but being in there got to me. In Lincolnton I couldn’t find a poolroom. The owner of a local pawn shop directed me to a place called Leo’s but it wasn’t what I was looking for. There was this business in downtown Lincolnton that had some crazy signage with some very interesting slogans on them. We thoroughly enjoyed reading them and took some videos. Whats nice is that you and I can have a conversation about things outside of football on this thread without having posters complain about it. I can tell you this, it’s not easy being a NE poster on these threads. Thanks for the history lesson, I’m going to google that battle. I wish I’d of known about that while I was there. Thanks for everything, now I’ll just go troll the Wrh threads so I can read all their excuses for why they lost and how no one wants to face them or ED in the playoff. Sad thing is that they believe this. I don’t know whether it’ll be Maiden,Hendo,Shelby,ES,Salisbury, or Reidsville but our Northeastern Eagles will be ready for which ever team WE face in the state championship 😉

I hope you liked our area. The Maiden and Lincolnton folks are good people. Oddly enough the Wolves Head Coach David Byrd has Elizabeth City ties. His father Dennis lived there until his death in 2010. Dennis is better known for what he did as a college player at NC State . Dennis Byrd was the head coach at Northeastern in the 90’s. I hope you got a city lunch hotdog.while you visited.
Dennis Byrd was my social studies teacher at NE. He’s a legend here. We ate at a little buffet in Maiden someone recommended. The qb for Maiden, someone posted he is holding one offer. Do you know which school it’s from ? That kid looked really good, I can think of a lot of schools in the east who would of loved to have had him this year.
