North Buncombe at Mitchell
Hendersonville at Reynolds
Brevard at Enka
Mcdowell at Owen
Roberson at Crest
Franklin at Erwin

My picks..

Mitchell 42 NB 35...Mitchell has been killing people but they have played a very weak schedule. NB may be without their qb. If that is the case it will be a lot worse.

Reynolds 55 Hendo 14.... Hendersonville just got waxed by North Henderson. This will be a game for Reynolds to rest Rico and get ready for the Warriors next week.

Enka 28 Brevard 14... There is no excuse for Enka losing to Hayesville, but this week they have a very easy home game.

Owen 35 Mcdowell 14.....I really thought Mcdowell might be improved but after they got killed by a 1A team on their field I think they are in real trouble this season.

Crest 48 TCR 0...Ugly...That is all I have.

Erwin 35 Franklin 28...Erwin's brutal non-conference schedule continues. Franklin will feel like playing a middle school team compared to the competition the Warriors have seen the last two weeks, and that is not a shot at Franklin because they are a very good team. I think the Panthers will have a hard time containing Erwin's receivers.

North Buncombe at Mitchell This could be a good game if Parker is healthy for NB. But wow have the wheels fallen off of this wagon.... Mitchell wins big at home 35-17
Hendersonville at Reynolds- I look for this one to get ugly and get ugly in a hurry. Hendersonville is young and struggling. With as much as they throw the football, Rico & Co. should have plenty of time in the first half to put up big points. Starters won't see the field in the 2nd half. Reynolds big 52-21.
Brevard at Enka- Enka just because someone has to win....
Mcdowell at Owen- Padgett will have to wait another week to get his first win. McDowell wins a tight one in the valley 28-21
Roberson at Crest- Will Clark will be the Rams best and only defense on Friday. Chargers roll in Sid Bryson 56-0
Franklin at Erwin- Best game in the MAC this week. Erwin is coming off of a brutal schedule only to play one of the more physical teams in the area... For Erwin's sake I hope they pull this one out at home. But, I can see this one going either way if Erwin struggles stopping the ground and pound of Franklin. Ferguson throws it 40 times in a big win 42-31.

Hahahaha you guys taking shots at TCR having the wood put on them but I was at The Horse Farm three years ago when ACR rolled in and it got ugly fast. Game was over in first qtr and most of the Crest starters were Freshmen and Sophs. Lol...remember that?

Remember it well. Rough night against the Chargers that night. I also remember the great games against Crest including back to back wins in 2009-2010 and a hard fought playoff game in 2013.

Mitchell by 7
Reynolds by a bunch
Enka-by 7
McDowell by 7
Crest -by as many as they want
Erwin-by 7-Will start the turnaround.

Mitchell by 20
Reynolds by 35+
Enka by 14
McDowell by 3
Crest by 50+
Erwin by 10

Crest comes to Roberson.

If you're not doing anything come watch a fantastic defense and a pretty dog gone good offense. You can also see the #1 junior OLB in America.

If that does not suit you, you can watch rich kids get the snot kicked out of them.

I didn't realize there was such a thing as rich kids in Cleveland County....;)

Mitchell wins - NB is back to being NB
Reynolds wins
Enka wins
Owen wins
Crest wins

Great matchup: I'll be the dog and say Franklin by 1.
Franklin, because they are more physical up front, but Erwin throws well and WR #7 needs to have his breakout game. I am one who preaches play tougher teams and now is when it is supposed to pay off. Erwin wins if QB and WR get it going. Erwin RB has to be a threat this game.

In robersons defense, they too have a great junior linebacker. Not all American good or anything, but very good. We have been trying to get him for years. Maybe the other perennial "recruiting" team Crest can get him to move to boiling springs, because our recruiting pitch hasn't worked thus far. Hey it beats going 4-7 every year

Mitchell by 3. Don't really care either way.

Reynolds by 35. Hendo is scrappy but they'll put a few points up to make it respectable.

Enka by 1. This is the only other game on the schedule this year that Enka can win.

Mcdowell by 21. They aren't as bad as people think.

Crest by 35,671. TC may not even get off the buses when they roll into the ranch.

Erwin by 9. I will probably go to this game. I think Erwin is gonna get smacked in the mouth up front but Franklin can't deal with the Warriors passing attack. If the Warriors can stiffen up their defense and stop Franklins run game they'll be ok. This will be the game that shows the Erwin fans just exactly why Sexton scheduled those brutal non-conference games. Should be the best game of the week in all of WNC.

Asheville vs. no one. Asheville by 35. Battle will get 35 carries and our D will get at least one pick 6.

North Buncombe at Mitchell: Not sure I buy into the Mitchell hype but they are probably better than North Buncombe. Mitchell by 14.

Hendersonville at Reynolds: Maybe if this game was a couple years ago it might have been a good game, but Rico will get the ball 16 times in the first half, score 5 touchdowns rush for 195 yards and won't play in the second half. Reynolds 45-13.

Brevard at Enka: Enka because Brevard is the worst team in WNC

McDowell at Owen: See "Brevard at Enka"

Crest at Roberson: Crest will score more points in the first quarter than Roberson will in the entire game. Crest and Roberson will probably look equal in pre game warm ups. As a matter of fact, if somebody from Washington state came to watch the pre game warm ups and had to bet on the game, they might put money on Roberson…then the game will start. Crest 66-10 and it will only be that close because the Crest coach won't play the starters in the second half.

Franklin at Erwin: Game of the week. Both teams have played good competition so far. Erwin has played a tougher schedule, but Franklin has been tested and is I believe the 3rd ranked team in the WNC best of the west poll. Erwin is 5 I think? This game could go either way. 2 very different offensive styles.

Asheville vs BYE: Reggie Battle will get 36 carries. Nobody else will be allowed to touch the ball nor will we consider throwing to our great wide receivers.

Mitchell, they're just better
ACR, by a bunch
Enka, barely
McDowell, just because Owen being 0-4 would be funny!
Crest, do I really need to explain why?
Erwin, they are still good despite the record
Asheville, because they have never lost to Open!

Rocket Pride he has to come over here and see what winning teams are saying so when they have that one good season in 12 years he will know what to say.

Owen had been brutal the last 10 years except one. Reynolds would have ran them off the field with rico and their qb last year.

We will win enough to make the playoffs and we will be fine. Unlike the Mac teams aside from Erwin we play up not down in classification. We were 9-3 year before last. We have won games and plenty of them. As the always smallest team in Buncombe county we have the third highest winning percentage despite playing much larger schools every year.

Could would shoulda. Your kids can't stay out of trouble which is obvious. Give it time and Rico will be in trouble again.

Reynolds rocks lives in Florida and is a reject so he comes back to the NC message board to try and lean on Reynolds for his ego. Sad day that a high school is his one claim to fame and self esteem boost.

You are the one that has an emotional break down after Owen loses and more likely than not crys. I put the odds at 90% you cried like a baby when Owen got knocked out last year.

Where did you get that info about Owen having the third highest winning percentage? I'm pretty sure it was from a Reynolds website (your welcome), also I'm pretty sure most everyone on here is out of high school so what are you saying about me boosting my ego on here? And finally ACR play 4 teams this's year that are 4A so that is playing up, Owen plays 4 teams who are bigger also, and Owen plays 2 1a teams and we play 2 2a teams so not a lot of difference in our scheduling! And finally yes Owen and ACR have a pretty close overall record, however ACR wasn't always bigger we were the same classification some of the years ago. Don't be offended by my facts, I'm just down here having some fun with you!

Let's see, Owen doesn't play the Q Foundation, NC School for the Blind, Little Sisters of the Poor or NC School for Science & Math so I really don't see 4 wins in their future for this season. I will say if they did play the Q Foundation that might be an L.

I think we will win McDowell, Avery Madison Polk and Hendersonville. I never said we were going to beat yall this year because I felt that was a stretch and I felt we didn't deserve to win vs Mount Pleasant because we turned it over too much so no I didn't cry. We play 2 1a teams because of our conference. Out of conference we play 3 3a schools and a 4a school. No 1a. Name 1 time with your trusty site that Owen played down outta conference. I think Mitchell is the best team in the WHC and Mountain Heritage is 2nd and I said so before the season even started on carolinapreps. I was and am realistic about things. We shoulda beat Enka and had chances vs Tuscola but we didn't get it done but there is alot of football left to play so I am confident we will turn it around. It's gonna take Padgett time and I wanna give it to him.

I seriously don't think your current coach is man for the job. JMHO

If you say those 1a teams are conference foes so it doesn't count, then why did ACR get blasted when we were 4a for playing in a mostly 3a conference and "playing down"? When we were 4a everyone was smaller so yes we played down! Big schools have to play down and a small school basically has to play up! If you beat McDowell and Hendo I'll be stunned, but anything is possible, shock me!

Whatever man you will argue with a fence post I never said a thing about you playing conference.

He may not be the man for the job but let's see what he can do in a couple years.

Q Foundation no joke probably has 2-3 guys that could start for us.

I found this interesting.

Damien Ferguson has thrown the most in WNC with 105 pass attempts.
Chase Parker of North Buncombe has 103 pass attempts.
Ty Minz of cherokee 77 pass attempts.
Eric Robinson of TC Roberson has 72 pass attempts.
Drew Johnson of Christ School who leads WNC in passing yardage has pass 71 attempts.
Dalton Kent of Murphy has 68 pass attempts.
Demarcus Harper of Owen has 64 pass attempts.
Tanner Ellenberger of Brevard has 63 pass attempts.
Colby Edwards of Madison has 63 pass attempts.
Colton Millsaps of Robbinsville has 63 pass attempts.
Rico Dowdle of Reynolds has 59 pass attempts.
Trace Goldsmith of East Henderson has 59 pass attempts.
Jason Fabio of Enka has 55 pass attempts.
Ben Young of Mitchell has 52 pass attempts.
Trent Wright of Swain County has 49 pass attempts.
Jackson Perone of Franklin has 49 pass attempts.
Kyle Rhinehardt of Hayesville has 42 pass attempts.
Taylor Parker of Andrews has 40 pass attempts.

And here down NEAR the very bottom of the pack, we have Devon Davidson of Asheville high who has thrown the ball 38 times through 4 games.

The 7th leading passer in WNC at the moment has thrown the ball less than 10 times per game going in to week 5. What makes this even more maddening is the fact that Asheville has the best wide receiver duo in the mountains with Makauis Brewer and Isaiah Drummond. I'm not saying Asheville has the BEST receiver, but I am saying, that is the best duo of WRs on the same team.
So when Asheville fans say "we aren't a run first team, we are a run only team", these are the stats we are talking about.

If you don't have balance offensively, you become predictable…and when you become predictable you lose early in the playoffs.

Erwin has the same issue but it is with running the ball. We have two very good backs. I will say they are using them more this year though and it doesn't matter who we had, there was very little chance of yards gained against Science Hill and you can forget Ootelwha.

Yea well when you throw the ball there is still a little bit of a mystery of where the ball is going. Especially in erwins case when you have 4-5 wide receivers. You can throw it long, you can throw it short, you can throw screens etc. When we run the ball, we are running the ball and when you have a qb that doesn't really run, you are telling the defense we are giving the ball to our RB. And seeing as how our RB had 80 carries through 3 games, its pretty predictable.

Last year Asheville had 2 WRs who averaged over 20 yards a catch.
This year 1 WR almost averages 20 yards a catch and is at the bottom of the list. The other WRs (especially #10) & TE don't have enough catches to make the list?!

No wonder Fritts transferred.

Maybe Asheville and Erwin can do a swap out;). Receivers for running backs. I think that might hurt Erwin more since Poore is only a soph. Erwin is using him a lot more this season.

My personal opinion, but I'd rather have a defense that could pitch shutouts and haul in pick 6's than anything else. As I've said before, I understand where you guys are coming from and I'm not disagreeing with ya'll at all, but we've won 4 straight games without 300 yards passing. When you can score and burn the clock and not have to worry about the opposing offense even getting on the field you're usually going to be OK. I honestly believe when we start conference play you'll see us airing the ball out more. A good poker player doesn't show you every trick he has all on the first hand.

I guarantee you if Drummond and Brewer played at Erwin, Erwins offense would be unstoppable. Imagine having 2 Austins.

Here is my only thing. We know we can run on Pisgah, we know we can run on Franklin, we know we can run on Newton Conover. The question is, what are we going to do when a team like Weddington, Cuthbertson, Crest, South Point, Reynolds, stops our run? What happens then? Because it will happen and then we are going to all of a sudden pull out a passing game? A passing game we have absolutely no confidence in? When Asheville gets into situations where we have to pass, we look awful. We look awful because we decide we aren't going to have anything other than a running game until week 8 when we get into a tight game and can't run wild like we normally do against weaker opponents. Balance is terrific on offense. Thats why reynolds offense is so good this year, because they have a great running back but they are throwing the ball all over the place too. A running game that chews up clock is good to have of course, but having at least a THREAT to throw the ball and show different looks is even better.
