I realize this is none of my business and congrats to Indy.....but they scored a 2 pt conversion for the win vs Rocky River on a pass to an ineligible #51 lined up in the backfield.

Announcers talked about the receiver being a lineman but did not seem to realize that 50-79 are not eligible to catch a pass.

Indy was 1-8 why even let them hang around. Sounds like a poorly coached & played game by RR.

Regardless....how does that happen and no one even notice?

Officiating has gradually been on the decline for years. The coaches association needs to put it at the top of their list to try to figure out ways to improve it. Tough job but a catch by anyone wearing 50-79 in high school football is unacceptable.

I agree 100%...Having the sideline officials stand on the sideline is crazy, if you can not run and move and have a feel for the game you should not be out there.........Suppose the ball is on the far hash mark , how far away is the side judge on the opposite side, to make any kind of call........Our conference even puts the umpire in the backfield with the ref.....A lot of out of shape guys trying to get a check.....Dont get me wrong we have some excellent ones in our conference , but a few that dont have any business on a varsity field...At a recent game , a official showed up injured , called one play and walked off the field....Oh , he did get a check.....nuff said...

HS needs to go to a 6 man crew the speed of the game is too fast for these old out of shape guys they have out there (one of the reasons I stopped my knees were shot and i felt like if it prevented me from being in position or in the way i should stop). The days of 3 yards and a cloud of dust are over. Secondly, you take the umpire and move him to the offensive side of the ball where ineligible receiver calls and lineman down field are harder to pick up.

Trying to understand this cause by rule he is ineligible by number. I was not at the game, this just doesn't make any sense period. By any chance did the ball get touched by the defense in the backfield, tipped pass, went flying up in the air and #51 someway, somehow came down with the football in the end zone. That would be the only scenario where he could catch the ball.
Sounds like he ran a route and the QB threw the ball to him. How in the world do you miss that call?

No tip pass, qb threw the ball to him.

Good thing I was not on the sideline, one of RR coaches. I would have been taken out the stadium on a stretcher, blood pressure, stars, blacked out, Fred Sanford for real!

Saw it on the news ..It was a power set backfield , flood route to number 51 out of the backfield lined up as a power back..May not have been suppose to have gone to him but he was in the route and he caught it for the winning 2 pt conversion...Hey officials are human also...That just happened to be a big one...Who's call was it then...I would say any official on the field that recognized it...Over and done , Learn from it and move on...

So, maybe in tonight's game, next week vs Scotland, or in the playoffs this happens and it costs Richmond the game; Learn from it and move on.

Just stating which is becoming come and more obvious, which is why folks are so down on the officials. It should have been called: the Head Official, Back Judge and then which side the pass was caught on the official. I was at a Middle school football game a few weeks ago and something like this happened. All 4 flags were on the field for the pass.

I graduated from the BIG I, played ball there.

I graduated from the BIG I, played ball there............You're right I dont agree with it ....TOTALLY WRONG.....BUT, the way high school football is , nothing can be done about it......They probably would not have gotten out of Richmond County with all that they came with.....Just pikking, RC folks would never do anything like that over a football game....Good luck with getting the call changed ...Hard to believe it was overlooked by officials and staff.....nuff said.....
