Who will be the top teams in the 3A of boys and girls basketball. I know Carson girls are the defending 3A State Champs. What will they bring for this season.

On the boys side, Weddington has to be the favorite... brings back about 90% of a state title team that had less than a handful of close games all season. Was looking forward to a rematch between them and Northwood, but looks like Northwood's young core from last year's runner up team got split up by Seaforth High opening in Chatham County.
Weddington's actually 4A now. That in itself will be interesting. Northern Guilford moved up as well. They would've been favorites in both boys and girls.
I hate to hear that about Northwood. They would've been a frontrunner for sure. Are the two awesome young players still there?
As far as favorites.......I don't know. I like Ben L. Smith on the boys side. On the girls side, I'm keeping my eye on North Davidson. It's Emily Hege's senior year.

It looks like the point guard and the 6-5 wing that started and averaged double figures as freshmen are still there, but the 6-8 kid that is getting some ACC looks went to Seaforth. They hired his dad as the coach, so makes sense I guess. UNC just offered him yesterday.

Carson girls lost 4 of their starters but still have a Catawba signee.
I could see Hege avg 28-30 ppg. Great pt guard but North lacks talent around her. They graduated their top post player from last year.

Crest returns several players from last years West finals team led by Mari Adams. Interested to see how they do this year.
