The drama increases as we move one round further into the playoffs.

Cape Fear (9-3) at Hoggard (11-0)

Cape Fear is coming off of a 32-14 win over Northern. Hoggard won their playoff opener 49-21 over South Central. The winner of this game meets the winner of the game between Scotland and East Wake.

Cape Fear is averaging 29.33 ppg and allowing 16.58 ppg. Hoggard is scoring 37.36 ppg while allowing 7.45 ppg. Since 2004 Cape Fear has a playoff record of 3-5, including a 21-7 loss to Hoggard last season. Hoggard is 15-9 with one title.

East Wake (10-2) at Scotland (11-1)

East Wake ventures out of Wake County this week, to face the Fighting Scots. East Wake scores at a 46.58 ppg clip, while Scotland comes in with an average of 39.50 ppg. East Wake allows 14.83 ppg, while Scotland allows 15.33 ppg.

These two teams have three losses between them, but are quality losses. East Wake lost to Wake Forest 27-18 and Garner 33-21. Scotland's lone loss was to Southern Durham 34-28. But they have a very impressive win over Richmond 34-13 on their resume.

East Wake's schedule strength, according to MaxPreps is 19, while Scotland's is 23.1. East Wake has won 7 straight including their playoff opener against West Johnston 48-14. Scotland has won 8 straight, including their playoff opener against Conley 35-21

Hillside (8-4) at Seventy-First (12-0)

Hillside has won 6 straight games on the field, since they began the season 1-4. They have one forfeit win against East Chapel Hill. For Seventy-First, this is their first time in the playoffs since 2011.

Since 2004, Hillside has a playoff record of 15-7, including one title. Seventy-First has a playoff record during that span of 9-7 including one title.

Hillside's schedule strength, according to MaxPreps is 11.3, while Seventy-First's is 12.1. Last week, Hillside opened their playoff season with a 42-28 win over E.E.Smith. Seventy-First opened with a 28-0 win over Riverside.

These two teams have two common oppenents. Hillside beat E.E. Smith 42-28, while Seventy-First handled them 41-23. Seventy-First took the measure of Riverside 28-0. Hillside defeated them 19-18.

Rose (10-2) at New Bern (12-0)

Rose is scoring 43.58 ppg and allowing 23.33 ppg. New Bern is scoring at a 37.75 ppg clip, while allowing only 7.58 ppg.

This is a rematch of these teams' meeting on November 7, which was won by New Bern 33-13. Not much to say, except to expect it to happen again.

I agree with all your picks except 71st. 71st hasn't played anyone this season, I think they struggle to move the ball against a stout Hillside D. Hillside musters enough offense to beat them. Hillside wins 21-14.
 
Honda, I enjoy your analysis but wanted to point out that your East Wake numbers are way off. They average 34 pts a game and give up 22. That is a big difference from what you posted. Just thought you would like to know. Thanks again for the break downs. Nice work.
