any one got any info on this. really don't want to call the team out on this but the player is on Face Book like he's bragging about it. his school has a game tonight just wandering how fast a school or the state can take action? if someone has an answer would love to hear it

There is a prohibition on playing high school sports in North Carolina after conviction of a felony. Other than that, it's up to the individual system. Thomasville's school board passed a stricter policy after a rash of arrests of student athletes in 2015. The length of suspension varies according to the charges. It applies to all extracurricular activities, not just sports.
I applaud them for their action.

Every school has their own policy on this, it's their decision. Really nothing illegal about it.

I believe that I just heard the basis behind your post. I was told that a North Stanly player was arrested for hitting a female and was let out on bond Thursday night. Does anyone know any details on this? Albemarle always takes heat for anything that happens in the news. It is only right that we know about this situation at NS.

Can you take away a player's right to play if he or she is accused but not convicted in a court of law??

This should not even be talked about until when and if he is convicted. who is to say she didn't lie . You are convicting him without a trial. You are making the schools down there look bad. If yall would quit talking about your own problems putting y'alls schools down ,all this may go away. The boy is innocent till proven guilty. You are being judge and jury.I have seen several complain about the conference going on and on about nothing . More talking about a has been team that can come back if y'all would not keep being negative about them.Let it go and talk about the winning teams till Albemarle works out there problems. I know of several strong winning programs that have been down a few years and made a come back. Let the courts handly this or he may have you in court if he is found not guilty for defamation of character .Find something positive to talk about............. None of my business but like I said I have seen several complaints and thought i would put in my 2 cents worth. Take it or ignore it but go back and read all these comments made over and over and over. Sorry but that is my opinion , take it or leave it. I usually don't voice my opinion in a nother conference but have seen others voice theirs. Anyone agree.............

A player can be suspended for conduct detrimental. Does not mean I agree but does mean a coach cannot bench a kid.

Great story along those lines just a bit.
Years and years ago East Rowan was the best team in the WNCHSAA baseball. Coach found out two star seniors that were of legal drinking age (18 then) had been seen in a nightclub legally drinking. It was against his rule and he booted both of them.

I don't discuss individual players on here, but will point out that in our case, arrests in January, 2015 have still not been tried. Some of the crimes were on video that clearly indicated who performed the acts. How long should a defense attorney be able to postpone a trial simply in order to keep a player eligible? Thus the reason for Thomasville's policy. Let's just say that prior to the policy, there were dozens of arrests. Since implementation, only one. Hopefully, the kids are getting the message that extracurricular activities, including athletics, is a privilege, not a right.

That's on your local judges and prosecutor to decide. The fraternity that is lawyers has each other's back.

It's not like the kid is accused of stealing some chewing gum from a convenience store. He is 18 years old and was arrested for a violent crime on a female. He was also charged last year and suspended two games while playing for us at AHS for assault on a teammate. This kid has a long history of violence. Are you saying that a young lady would make up a complete fabricated lie to get this gentleman in trouble? It's not like she has anything to gain from doing this. If nothing else she will be harassed for doing this to a star runningback. It is public knowledge and he is 18 years old, there is nothing he can sue anyone about for stating facts. The facts are that he was released from jail on a $500 bail at midnight after being arrested and charged with assault on a female. He then started in a football game that night while being out on bond. As a female this disgusts me in many ways. Nshs better be glad it wasn't my daughter. I can only imagine if he was still playing for Albemarle. It would be on the front page of the Charlotte observer and heck probably the news. Looks like he made a good move transferring to NS.

All of those NS fans who are claiming inosience, imagine if it were your daughter. Think with your brain and heart instead of a football. Essentially you are calling a young female who was assaulted by an 18 year old adult a liar. This is discusting.

I guess the biggest thing I saw wrong is you called out the school name which left it open to be anyone. and as for a young lady making up a complete fabricated . Do you remember the Duke girl that lied about the lacross team and it turned out to be a lie. It about ruined their lives . It happens all the time some where in the US. And I am not saying she is lying just that the school should not have been brought or talked about till the boy goes to trial . Put yourself in his place if someone accused you of something would you want it plastered on NCPrep. Now if you had not called out the school it would be different. Now that is all I will say .I don't have to live with it if he knows you.If he did it then he will deserve what the courts do to him.

When you accept the privilege of wearing your school name on a jersey or uniform then the school name will follow you with all of your actions. This arrest is no secret and will ultimately be in the papers and or news. When a high profile athlete commits a crime is is always bigger news than an average joe. That is the responsibility taken by the athlete and should walk a finer line than other students. Does this make North Stanly look bad for playing this kid? Absolutely! This descision shows what kind of standards and morals the comets now live and play by.

Does it make you look bad for calling the school out before it even goes to court. Did every kid at the school hit the girl. I question your morals and standards. Now that is all I have to say.

It is public record. The arrest log is listed in the newspaper. Name, age, charge. If it is public and he is discussing it on Facebook it is fair game. With that said and in reply to Mrs Coleman's statement, yes people lie all the time to get others in trouble. There are many articles about such instances. Google Brian Banks for a classic one.

My question is how did he end up at North this year if he went to AHS last year? There was no open enrollment this year.

A better answer to your question above.

So, you ARE saying that she is lying. You need a reality check sir. What if it were your daughter or relative. I also heard today that this guy was already on probation for an assault conviction last year. Don't be mad because you are a part of the "no class comet" club. I have heard a lot of stories that blow my mind on NS being of privilege in Stanly County, but this one takes the cake! NS is recruiting athletes and finding homes for them to live. I guess NS thinks they are untouchable. Which in recent events it seems as though they are.

This is the better answer to your question above and not saying the guy in your area is
incident or guilty ...

This is not the place to discuss a individual kid or on what team he is on Susan. Fact is you don't know this kid nor the facts of the incident last year or the facts of this incident. This incident right now does not need to be discussed on this forum.

Not the only one there either or on that team that's another discussion.

Nation, it is public information. I have been nice in not saying the players name.

The newspaper will say his name this week.
Still needs to kept off here. If it is on his facebook that is his FB friends and has no place here. If he is found guilty then it may be ok with Deana to post a link from the newspaper with the results so how many people needs to tell you to drop it . Facebook and NCpreps have different rules. This is not the place to judge him, so let it go..... I have watched and respected your posts till this came up. Seems you have a personal problem with this guy that you need to put to the side and let the court system run it's coarse. You are not the judge or jury but seem to be trying to judge this guy. What makes you sech a expert. I say you are making a fool of yourself . Sorry but I call it as I see it. Anyone agree with anything i have said. She needs some good advice not just from me.I am only trying to get a point across and help her.How many people have to tell her to let it go.

The only problem I have is that North Stanly is treated different than Albemarle. Anyone from AHS will tell you this. This is a prime example. I guess us Bulldog fans must accept this and keep our mouth shut.

Susan I understand where you are coming from. My main point regardless of school this is still a high school kid. Much like last year point to the coaches etc we must remember these are kids. If they done something let that work out let them pay the consequences.

In regards to the original question yes there is a county rule against a player playing under judicial control (aka on bond). You can probably find it online.

If you want the truth of my opinion. I do find fault in your prosecution of something that the courts need to handle but I feel sorry for the way everyone keeps downing Albemarle when they are going through a rough time. It has been run into the ground with the same ole repeated remarks over and over. I have not really kept up with it because every time i look it is always being repeated with nothing new. Beating a dead horse is what I call it. Albemarle could make a come back some day and make them pay. I think you are probably a good person but bitter over the trash talk about Albemarle and venting where you should let it run its coarse in the judicial system and not you being judge and jury. You seemed in earlier posts to be a better person than that.Ignore the haters.

Had a conversation with a guy tonight who had no idea who I was but stated some negative things about Albemarle. My question do you know any current kids that attend AHS answer no you have been in the school during school hours and seen the kids answer no. His statement 90% of the kids are from the ghetto. My response one does that make them bad kids? Two we have great kids at this school, perception is not reality and therefore do not judge these kids until you know them. Fact a number of our athletic teams win team scholar awards which is a avg gpa for that team of a 3.28 or higher we have a number of kids playing college athletics we have a number of kids on full academic scholarships as well. Our school grade was just improved for the second year in a row although this time I didn't see a number grade like last year it was just the letter grade. Last year we were 3 pts behind NS academically the feeling is that we have overtaken them, but if the number grade has been posted I haven't seen it yet.

Now I'm not saying Albemarle High is perfect because it's not we in the last couple of years have been through a lot some of which was not even our doing, I could re hash but don't want to get into it. The instability and bs has taken a toll on the kids and some of these families have moved primarily because of that they were tired of dealing with it and their kids dealing with it.

Football wise we have had turnover it takes time to build a program but I can tell you first hand that the youth coaches are doing a fantastic job and middle school. That will reach the high school and I don't place much merit on kids now but just my experience we have some great great days ahead of us in a couple of years. Impressed is an under statement from what I have seen.

Now a blind man can look and see the differences on how things are handled. It's not right and needs to stop. If you are going to hold one school accountable all need to be held accountable. Kids etc have been absolutely bashed the last two years why because they attend Albemarle and they are good at sports? End of the day these are kids we need to hold them accountable but we also need to remember they are kids.

Me seeing these kids this year after this mess has been set aside watching the pride coming back and these kids working their tales off to represent their school to the best of their ability is great to see. We have great kids who will accomplish great things. We need to push them hard to achieve excellence and they will. These kids want it they know the pride of the name on the front of their jerseys. Understand these football players are giving everything they have to represent AHS. I seen their eyes Friday night man do they want it.

My suggestion is get out there and support them we have a lot to be proud of. These kids know they are young and know they have a lot to work on but make no excuses and are fighting hard and working everyday to get stronger faster and better to get this program back to what it was. But it's not just them it's the whole athletic program from the high school down to the youth programs they want the greatness back. It's great to watch.

That's my 2 cents. To any kids that read this board. Keep fighting and striving for greatness. It's coming we will Continue to be out there supporting you!!!! Go to work Bulldogs!!!!

Kids moved on from message boards about 6-7 years ago. Facebook is old to them.

All I will say is if he was still at Albemarle and as bad as the Bulldogs are this year he still would not have played Friday night and I believe that 100%
