High School sports schedule moved back by NCHSAA

Highschoolot gives examples of divisions within a conference that have been done in the past in multiple sports.

Gonna be interesting with a seven game schedule in a ten team conference.

I agree. It will be interesting to say the least. It just seems like by doing this it will force multiple sport athletes to pick/choose a sport.

CCC AD's meet to address that this week. However, they do it someone is probably going to get hosed. Winning is now a must in all sports to be able to have a winning record.

Here's an idea:
1) Split the conference into two five-team divisions based either on geography or evenly split going by last year's standings.
2) Play everybody in your division once (4 games).
3) The last week of the regular season, have the division winners play each other, along with 2nd vs. 2nd, 3rd vs. 3rd, 4th vs. 4th, and 5th vs. 5th. That would give everybody 5 conference games
4) Doing this would leave everybody two weeks for non-conference opponents (same as they have now)

Example:
CCC American: Salisbury, Ledford, Thomasville, West Davidson, South Rowan
CCC National: North Davidson, Oak Grove, Central Davidson, Lexington, East Davidson

Feb 26: Non conference date 1
March 5: Non conference date 2
March 12: Conference date 1
March 19: Conference date 2
March 26: Conference date 3
April 2: Conference date 4
April 9: 1 v 1, 2 v 2, 3 v 3, 4 v 4, 5 v 5

I heard divisions were proposed two years ago, and the old heads always against everything suggested by certain schools said no. Thought was less conference games all around for most sports, football would stick to playing everyone once. Sounded like the top teams in different sports were tired of not being challenged in the baseballs, softballs, basketballs, and even footballs. Or in baseball and softball case wondering if some teams would even field a team...

I wish Reidsville had an AD that would get them in a better conference. There are plenty of closer 2A teams than Carrboro.

im not sure how much pull the individual ADs have on the committee. My wife had contact with a member of this last realignment committee. At a function, I wished to express my disappointment in his groups result for Reidsville, but my wife told me I better behave.

so I behaved.

Your AD has very little if anything to do with it.

Well Mr Smarty Pants, if not the AD, who from the schools has say so on athletic conferences?

A bunch of ADs from Chatam and Randolph Counties got together to keep from being in Reidsville's conference. So if their ADs can do things like that, why not Reidsville?

I don’t really care about the conferences we need to make sure we get some big time match ups on the schedule. East surry was a good find this year.

I am smart and I do wear pants. All I was saying is your AD, any AD, as an individual has little influence on where their school winds up in realignment.

Realignment is a process. That's why it takes so long. Too long IMO. The ultimate decisions on where people are placed comes down to the realignment committee. It's then voted on by the board of directors, who may actually be part of the committee. Can they be politically influenced? Maybe, but I think they have to take a lot of things into account. It's never as easy as many think.

Yep, that's the way it works - for better or worse.:rolleyes:

Yeah!
That was such a short ride up there from Randolph 😂😂😂

ER to Carrboro= 39.8 miles
Reidsville to Carrboro= 62 miles
Reidsville to ER= 49 miles

I mean, we all know ER, PG, and JM begged to get out of Reidsville's conference over mileage....

Well now furthest travel for all 3 of those schools is Wheatmore. About a 30 minute drive. Not sure on mileage. Also crowds are usually pretty good you know being neighbors and all. That MAY have had something to do with it. But your theory might be the only reason. Yeah sorry I even mentioned it...

Reidsville will bring a crowd especially if it’s worth the trip

Yes sir I know they will. All I meant to say was the conference ER is in now there are several natural rivalries. Proximity causing much of that. Also logistically it makes a lot of sense. There are some decent teams as well. Orange/blue high school in most sports. Wheat has athletes every year. JM in softball and soccer. PG in softball and baseball. ER, well, I am prejudiced so...And did I mention longest ride is 30 minutes? 👍

Time to do the right thing.

Move the season start up to October for an 8 game schedule.

Send the kids back to school full time for the 2nd nine weeks.

Too late to be a leader, but it's not too late to avoid ignominy of being the biggest follower.

won't happen...the panic porn pushers have complete control over everything....sad situation in this state....listening to Cooper today made me sick and not Wuhan Flu sick.........people in this state need to show him the door...................

That's our fearless leader. Maybe in five more weeks he will have is in Phase 2.75. I'm telling you right now as the good Lord is my witness, he is going to push this all the way out until the election. Of course everybody wants to place blame on the President. Don't blame issues on the President when leadership at the state level of government can't do their job.

I think its a tough situation. I think if other states can play we can too. But i agree and disagree with you guys.

King Roy is just a puppet, worse governor in NC history in my lifetime and I been here a long time. Yep, HS football can be played, and the 2020 season has been flushed by terrible state leadership, but the real scary thing is he might be re-elected.

He will get reelected, I hope I am 100% wrong, but this state has turned democratic and I don't see it going back anytime soon. One potential bad situation I foresee is a kid getting seriously hurt and not having the time to heal and be ready next fall. This could be bad in so many ways including a bunch of them getting sick with the regular flu that will be rampant that time of year.

I'll guarantee you in 5 more weeks we will be in Phase 2.75. Old Roy is going to do everything he can to push this all the way until the upcoming election. I served in the military for 22 years and one thing I can say without a shadow of a doubt, this guy's leadership skills are lacking in the worst way possible.

The Eastern side of the state is left as it comes.

The west is far right.
