Hayesville Coaching Change

Sorry for posting the thread twice. I have no idea how to delete the other one. Going to be some excitement brewing in Jacket town.

He was OC this past season and has previously been the DC in some years prior.

Should be a positive move. Certainly couldn't do any worse!

Coach Myers resigns....Kenneth Dockery Head Coach at Hayesville High!

Congratulations to Coach Dockery....A much deserved promotion as KD has been at Hayesville for quite a while now, and has already coached both sides of the ball as mentioned above....

Think the Yellowjackets made a good hire because he knows the football program as well as anyone in Hayesville...!

Good luck to the Yellowjackets and Coach Dockery!

Coach Dockery is a class act and will do the program proud. Knows the game and knows the kids.

excellent hire, good guy and good coach. Hopefully he gets the chance to add at least one coach of his choosing to the staff.

I think he will get to choose who stays and goes
Hopefully Hayesville will have some PE, history, etc. type teaching positions available (even if at the middle school or elementary school) so he can bring in a few guys he wants. It will be hard to get any good, qualified coaches to come in without P.E. or similar type teaching positions available.

All most all the coaches from last year were retired former teachers or volunteers. There are few former coaches he might want to get involved again but I am sure they would work with him to fix the program.

Mark Leek is the superitindent and Todd Leek is the High school asst. principal they neither one coach anymore.

Will Hayesville keep the "green light " defense?

I have no dog in the fight and not trying to knock this hire. However, if you look at it logically, if this coach was already a coordinator on both sides of the ball at different times then what makes the fan base for the Jackets think that there is going to be such a huge change in philosophy and management of the team? Why is the result going to be drastically different? As a coordinator obviously he already had a lot of input and influence on the program. Just saying I don't think there will be a major difference in the program. But anyway good luck to Hayesville.

Good question. Let me try to answer it. Several of the recent head coaches were older and the players did not feel as if they were invested in them. No real relationship. Coach Doc has a good relationship with them. They feel he is ready to make a long term commitment to building a program. There is also a belief that Doc was held back by previous head coaches as they were micro-managers and insisted on doing things their way. Much of the excitement and enthusiasm for the last few years in the program was a result of Doc's efforts. I look for several former assistants to return to the staff.

Any of you Hayesville posters know if there will be a change in the offense or defense for next year?

I am not sure what is in the works I do know whatever changes that are made on defense will be for the better lol
