Well this is it in the Western 4A finals. Who do you have. It will be interesting. Should be a good one.

Right now my head is telling me to go with Grimsley. They have the top ranked qb in the country, their rb is a stud, they have the 4 star Davis on the line, and they just beat the best team in NC imo. Weddingtons secondary is weak and they lost some pieces from last year like Jackson and Budge, but then again it's weddington. They sent grimsley home last year in convincing fashion and like l've been saying all year, their front 7 will keep them in any game. #6 Harris is a game wrecker. He’s easily the best NC Dlineman I’ve seen play in at least the last decade. Backed up by his brother and Odom, Brandon could spend a lot of time running for his life if grimsley isn’t careful. Right now I think I’m gonna go with grimsley, but I won’t count weddington out. This game will be closer than what some people are saying it will be.

Brandon Is going to air raid this team to death. Especially because they will have to stack the box in respect of Summers abilities. Kadon Catoe will back to flying around the field after last fridays baiting mission. Also all of Grimsley injuries are back for example Hudson Cooper who scored two TDs on Rolesville and 1 on Hough. What people don't realize Grimsley doesn't run up the score on confrence teams like 704 teams will do. He pulled most starters after the first drive of the second half.

These games are always about matchups. Weddington has one of the best defensive fronts I have seen in NC in the last 10 years. If they get heat on the quarterback, credentials don't matter. They also have the ability to keep the Grimsley back from getting to the second level. I see those as the two keys to this game. Weddington's offense is not the same elite level as their defense but will score. Grimsley's defense is not on the same level as their offense. Weddington can't get into a shootout with Grimsley. If this game is in the teens, Weddington wins. If in the 30s, Grimsley wins. In between, ??? Can't wait.

I think Weddington will do a better job against Summers. Hough gave up big plays especially the last touchdown receiver wide open
Hough has the number 1 offense and number 1 defense even after the loss. Weddington will have a 2hr bus ride on what will be a cold night, not quite as cold as last Friday but well below freezing. I believe at this level of football multi hour travel has a effect on performance especially if the bus is heated.

I don't think anyone has ever been able to effectively stop Summers in a significant way.

I can't wait for this. Definitely there Friday. I say Grimsley wins but honestly all I want to see is a good game. Weddington coaching is top tier. Grimsley has athletes on top of athletes and Brown is a great coach himself.

You couldn't ask for a better match for regionals on paper

I think Hough was a stronger team than Weddington, but not by much. There will be no let down from the Whirlies this week. The sting of defeat last year remains - the only Whirlie loss in the last three years. Whirlies at home haven’t lost since Porter Ridge in ‘21.

Summers was effective against the Warriors last year. He has yet to be contained this year, but the Weddington front seven is different - but supposedly so was Hough and 302 yards and 2 tuddies later….Weddington secondary is suspect if Brandon can avoid pressure via play action to Summers. Weddington will struggle if they have to play from behind. Budge replacement is big but lacks mobility. Weather looks more pass friendly Friday.

First team to 28 wins.

Is anyone showing Summers any interest as far as next level?

I love competitive football more then anything. Until Hough we didn't have a competitive game all year. Rolesville was good game.

I’ll be shocked if Weddington holds Grimsley under 28. Hough was the first time Grimsley played a close game all year, Rolesville is the best team in the east and the whirlies were up 35-13 late in the 4th. The fact that they got game pressure last week bolds well for Grimsley. Weddington has a great front but Grimsley has the best quick passing offense in the state. Brandon has been cruising all year because they haven’t needed him to do much since summers has a million yards and 44 Tds. Weddington will run blitz early and often and pressure Brandon. If he’s on Grimsley will score and score a lot. 35-21 Whirlies is what I think

The fact that Irmo, Rolesville and Weddington is still playing speaks to how much of a stiff non conference schedule Butler had.

I am leaning Grimsley 28-14. If Weddington wins the championship, this will be one of the best two year stretches I can remember.
Don’t forget Richmond who was in the 3rd rd! And they really should’ve beat irmo who has a great chance to win a title on Saturday. They were in the weddington game all the way to the end. Butler might be the best 4 win team I’ve ever seen lol. Really hope ferb and the staff can pull a lot of talent from the portal because I’m not very confident in their upcoming young talent.

Definitely heading back over to Grimsley again this week, I’m sensing a little under estimation of Weddington here.
I wouldnt do that. I was at this matchup last year at Weddington controlled by
Weddington. I have only seen Weddington once this year early versus West Forsyth and saw Grimsley just last week..
Looks like the temperature is going to be a little better this week thank goodness…
Unsure my pic as of thus minute

I think it’s partly Weddington not being as good as they were last year and Grimsley beating a Hough team that many felt was the best in the state.
Neither team is better or more talented than they were last year. Grimsley just has Hough’s number at this point but Weddington should’ve won both games the last two years against Grimsley.

Once again. I respect your picks but we have all seen this movie before. I have the mean green in a barnburner. I mean did Weddington lose a game I don't know about?

Weddington offense without budge is clearly not as good. Also they lost an NFL bound DB. Will still be a tough game. Grimsley has a 6'6" tight end that has been wrecking defenses. Mitcheal the #1 RB in NC will put on his usual clinc!!!! Weddington has some key players on offense. They just seem to be he Temu versions of Grimsley players. Oh and our QB is kind of #1. We also didn't have our 4 star defensive end last year due to injury. He's the one who sacked Houghs QB to force the final hail mary.

Thus, you’ve made my argument. Would Grimsley have been as successful over the last three years or so, if they didn’t have all those home playoff games? I don’t want to hear how the ratings work. We all know that. I simply want to know, honestly from someone, if Grimsley would have been as successful without three years worth of playoff home games? I doubt it.

Grimsley could have walked or hitchhiked to Charlotte and would have come away with the dub.

Now some of you guys mentioned things I’ve said. I’m not a Hough person. I couldn’t care less who wins actually. I’m just getting bored with the playoffs. When the same four teams make the regional semis, it could be a freak of the season if it happens once. Well, it might be something to it if it happens twice. The third time is a trend. This applies to Grimsley’s wins over Hough and for Hough losing these games. Congrats to Grimsley for hanging in there with Hough. They blew a 21-6 lead and hung in there and got the mild upset.

I'm sure this will get posted in the Weddington locker room this week.

There is no need to answer this question as Grimsley has home-field advantage. The selection committee must have liked Rolesville, Tabor and Northern. Let us note that all of these teams won playoff games. How does anyone know what next years teams will be like this year. There are no answers just guesses. Anyway, how about you get one of these "Charlotte teams" to beat us at home then we can talk about Schedules. Who did Hough play and win and I dont want to hear anything about Creek!!!! Let's also remember how you said Hough was going to beat us.

Taking a shot at my Creekboyz during your soliloquy. Who played nationally ranked Grayson, who's currently playing for the State Championship in Georgia and Bishop Moeller out of Ohio. Our JV is loaded with numerous 6'5", 6'6",6'7" 9th graders. You'll eventually see us one day. If you can continue to field those all-star teams. We're coming back to grace, guarantee. I'll remember. I do believe you guys are going to slaughter Weddington though. 🤣

Grimsley will continue to field all star teams and I don’t see it slowing down as long as that staff is there. The JV numbers are insane and I know parents who are in surrounding counties that are considering sending their kid(s) to Grimsley. They do recruit but with the program being what it is now, it sells itself.
Weddington is too well coached to get slaughtered by them and that defensive front will keep them in any game.

I have no beef with Creek. I don't think we have ever played each other. No doubt, with some consistency on offense they could be great. But Honda seems to be a fan of all the 704 teams and needs to park the car until next year.
