Carver has decided to release both Football and Wrestling HC Wayne Griffin effective today after school. Here's his statement about it on Twitter.

This really bums me out; he was a Class A fellow in the time I met him last Spring. He inherited a nuked and awful situation from his 2 predecessors and pretty much had to build it from the ground up. He had a good wad of kids not eligible in that spring season due to online learning but they had a great season last fall with Blackburn at RB. This year was a rebuilding year and they struggled but it was a better year than any Scales had. The wins might not be a lot but he did a good job rebuilding the numbers and coaching staff. It wasn't pretty under the previous HC.

It'll be interesting to see where Carver goes with this hire; they badly need to get this one right. A bad hire here could kill the program pretty much; Griffin helped give it some life. Last thing is to return it to being lower than before.

Pivot away from the vision? Pivot away from doing your best to win? What was their record in wrestling over the last 2 years?

It is sad to see what has happened @ Carver considering the success that program had in the late 90s and early 2000s. It would seem the stupid Forsyth Co. policy of school choice is what caused this. Too many that should be going to Carver have opted to go to other schools. I think back in their heyday of football success, Carver was a 3A school. Their enrollment now must be a shell of what it once was. That is on the Forsyth board of education and the stupid school choice policy. School choice should not exist. If you live in the Carver district then you go to Carver, end of story. The current policy only encourages kids to go to schools with strong football programs or for other reasons. Then schools like Carver and North Forsyth wilt on the vine and lose enrollment. One would think the school board would want all the county schools to be vibrant with good enrollment numbers. That would be the case at Carver if not for the foolish school choice policy. Carver has a rich history and has been a school for years. I guess the board of education simply doesn't care.
