The race for 2nd heats up, with some vital mid standings matchups this week.
Lake Norman (5-2, 2-1) at Cox Mill (4-3, 1-2)
A must win for both when it comes to the race for the final automatic playoff spot in the conference. LKN comes in off of a tough loss to Hickory Ridge, Cox Mill off of a bye week. Lake Norman moved the ball fairly well on HR at times, just never capitalized (inside the 5 at least twice I think). Cox Mill will have had an extra week to prepare for the triple option. If Cox Mill can get the ball into their playmakers hands outside, I feel like they can win this. Give me Cox Mill in the upset here
Cox Mill 23, Lake Norman 19
South Iredell (2-5, 1-2) at AL Brown (3-4, 0-4)
This game might be one of the tightest games to predict, and the two are VERY similar to one another. Both teams are led by their run game. And both teams struggle to move the ball consistently through the air. Neal for South Iredell is on of the best RBs in the league. On average both teams average around 100 yards passing, and 130 yards rushing. South scores and average of 19 a game, ALB scores an average of 17. Everything says this should be a tight game. Give me the wonders to finally grab the elusive conference win.
AL Brown 19, South Iredell 17
Mooresville (3-4, 2-1) at W Cabarrus (3-4, 2-2)
Blue Devils come in having played their most complete game of the year with a 42-7 win over South. Sebastian Brown has done an incredible job filling in for the injured starting QB. Another game where the styles of play are very similar. Mooresville will look to get the RB Howell going. Reid and Pigeon outside will be vital for Mooresville. Likewise WC will want to establish the run and open up the playbook based on that. Both defenses are solid, but give me the Blue Devils here
Mooresville 24, West Cabarrus 14
Standings:
1. Hickory Ridge (6-2, 4-0)
2 Lake Norman 5-2,2-1
3. Mooresville 3-4, 2-1
4. West Cabarrus 3-4, 2-2
5. Cox Mill 4-3, 1-2
6. South Iredell 2-5, 1-2
7. AL Brown 3-4, 0-4
