Mount Airy City Schools is proud to announce that Dr. Sandy George has been named Executive Director for Athletic Facilities and Fundraising.
She will be responsible for athletic

facilities,

upgrades,

repairs, and improvements

. She will oversee athletic fundraising for the district moving forward. In her over 40 years experience working in public education she has been a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, and executive director. She has been named Mount Airy Senior High (MASH) Teacher of the Year and 2011 Region 7 Principal of the Year. She has coached multiple sports and was the coach of the 1990 MASH

volleyball team that won a state championship. Her strong support of student-athletes made her an excellent Board member for the North Carolina High School Athletic Association. On the Board she served as Vice President, President, and Past President providing input, guidance, and expertise for the group.

She was principal of Mount Airy High School when the school earned the Wells Fargo Championship Cup in 2007 and 2017.
Several opportunities to support student-athletes are currently available with more being planned.

I cannot see any losses they will get by the youth foundation cutting off their nose to spite their face, as an old saying goes. lol .... Sandy George will put together an as good or better team helping Mount Airy fund Mount Airy School Sports. Great move by The Mount Airy City Schools’ Board of Education for doing this ! The donors are loyal to the school, youth foundation, or no youth foundation ! The youth foundation just thought The Mount Airy City Schools’ Board of Education could not get by without them and would get rid of anyone they wanted gone and it backfired on them.

MAYF should be ashamed for letting that letter get out to the public.....ashamed. You guys were volunteers and that should come with not wanting recognition as it's all done for the student athletes. You called out the wrong person in the Superintendent who has done an amazing job in her Tenor. MACS has moved on and will be better for it. MAYF members you are not bigger than the MA school system. MAYF Really look at yourselves in the mirror and realize how you handled this was wrong. Once a Bear!!!!!!!! You guys forgot that somewhere along the way of wanting more recognition!
