Timmons moves on and the Graham job is open. Assistant coach Hynus is the interim until a coach is hired. The story of Graham is what should have been. George Heckman fielded some great teams during the 50' and 60's then handed the reins to Bobby Boswell who was about to be the Jimmy Johnson of NC high school football. Well his contract was open during consolidation in the late 60's and he was scooped up by Andrews then he moved on to Kannapolis. Three of his players from graham, Billy Whiteman- Burton Cates-Gary Moser, moved on to stellar coaching careers. Super Bowl champion Bill Cower was Gary Mosers student teacher at Chapel Hill and has said he learned lessons from Moser that he instilled on all of his teams. Burton Cates has never moved from Graham and Whiteman followed Boswell. Ron Massey, Gary Merrill and Pat Moser graduated from Graham and have appeared in state championship games. The disappearance of Moser from Graham rivals the escape of the Anglin brothers from Alcatraz and the Graham boosters club have been as successful in finding his replacement as the FBI has been in finding those bay swimmers. Good luck to the next coach, he may be the last.
