Why would a talented coach not go south of the border? I will never begrudge a coach for leaving NC, but will still hug him or her for staying. Thoughts?

The move makes sense monetarily. I always hope those coaches get a good job with a good community and a better environment to continue a quality life. I've seen it work, at least from a distance, for more than not. I would hope N.C. could realize one day it's cheaper to invest in schools, education and leaders than it is in prisons.

Bottom line is they pay more money ( alot), have more perks and in general are treated like royalty in many SC towns. Its the whole package. DOwnside is mediocrity doesn't play well and that is as it should be. More money should equal more accountability. There are many coaches in NC that have operated well past their shelf lives and have been allowed to do so because the alternative isn't any better.

The public school foundation has different priorities in SC. You wont find it discussed much on this board because we are football addicts but take a good look at how SC ranks educationally. Now tell me about coaching salaries and money spent on facilities. Money spent doesn't always equal results but show me where the checks are being written and I will show you where a communities priorities lie.

I dont begrudge a coach anything for making life better for him and his family. Godbless. Where I will always get crazy is when I hear coaches cry and whine about player loyalty and how rules need to change to stop player movement. Coaches move for a better opportunity and we celebrate it. Kid and his family make the same decision based on their own criteria and its denounced as selfish and not good " character"

Cant have it both ways.

Add to that... NC does not work with retirees. If you work 30 hours, you are considered full time. If full time, your retirement stops. If you work 29.5 hours, technically you can contract but if you go over thirty your health insurance is canceled and you are put on Obama Bronze. The best part of retirement is the comfort of having your health insurance but going bronze is a losing proposition. Can you name a system that has a retired coach year round? (insert the sound of crickets here....)
