Franklin at Murphy

Im not so sure "ownership" will change hands this Friday. It would be a huge win if Murphy can pull it out. 9 years in a row for the Panthers. If Murphy can get a passing game going to open the run up, im optimistic. If not, its going to be a long night. Definitely going to take more than 8 points for sure.

Going into the season I thought this was going to be the year (Murphy at home, returned a lot of good pieces, Franklin heavy graduation losses, etc.) but with everything that's transpired for Murphy in the last week: best DB and fastest kid no longer on the team, two best defensive players injured, top two runningbacks injured, etc. I just can't see it happening now.

Murphy showed a lot of fight Friday night to give Pisgah a game with all those issues but ultimately fell short. In order for Murphy to have any chance against Franklin the o-line and QB play must improve. Some of it was down to Pisgah having a real solid front 7 and some of it was Murphy just not being good enough in those two areas Friday night.

Franklin might not be as stout defensively as Pisgah (to be determined I guess) but it definitely looks like they have more firepower on offense. I think Dogs will play hard and give a good account of themselves but there's only so much you can do as 1A team dealing with that much attrition. Franklin by 2-3 TD's, hope I'm wrong.

Franklin fans are here! I’m working a new job with a lot of hours. Pretty far removed from the team. All I can tell you is we’re young & replacing a bunch of starters. I have no idea how the game will turn out. You can bank on both coaches having their teams ready. I expect a dandy of a game!

Gentry will have the dogs ready, almost beat Pisgah with star players out. Franklin is looking strong again, could be the best team in their league.

Franklin fan here, just been super busy.

Before the season I thought that Franklin would probably have a tough time with both Murphy and Pisgah this year. Murphy was supposed to be absolutely loaded and Pisgah only got stronger, while Franklin has a lot to rebuild. After hearing the score, I figured that Pisgah must have gotten a lot stronger, but you Murphy guys are saying you've lost some players late, so I guess you can't tell much from one game.

I'll tell you that Franklin looked pretty good against Asheville, but we got some work to do. It looked like we were switching guys on the o-line throughout the game. I'm impressed at the new quarterbacks willingness to stand in and move around in the pocket. #10 is a pretty shifty runner, looked good. It was fun to watch our fullback outrun the entire Asheville defense a couple times as well.

Defense put some pressure on, but that could be a product of Asheville's early season o-line. Hope Murphy doesn't have any deep threats like Asheville had, those guys can put some points up.

Last Friday a lot of teams were switching kids in and out because of the high humidity and temperature.Think that's hurt Murphy some since they don't have that many kids. They can make excuses for losing a few kids all they want which I am sure did hurt them some. They still have a really good team and would not surprise me if they win especially if Franklin takes them lightly. They hung with us pretty good in what I thought was a good first game for both teams.Pisgah is pretty good when we come to Franklin you will find out just how good.

Murphys O line will need to protect Nelson in order to have any type of passing game. Franklin has been notorious for blitzing against the Dogs. Every year against Franklin, Murphys Qb is running for their life or taking a sack. Murphy definitely needs a passing game tomorrow night to open up the ground game or it could be a long night.

Murphy was stout up front, I don't think you're going to have much of problem with the blitz this year. Murphy's short passes should be very effective against Franklin.

I don't doubt y'all are strong this year. I figure it will be a surprise if y'all don't win the conference. Hopefully our young guys get good experience and we get better as the year goes on.

I figured y'all must be terribly weak this year since that windy WIR isn't on here beating his dentures together bragging.

I'd say one noisy fan is a terrible barometer of a football team. We have a lot to replace, but there isn't a better coaching staff around for the job than the one we got.

Youth is rearing its ugly head tonight. That being said I’m happy to get out of the first two @ 1-1. Congrats to Murphy.

Murphy 35 - Franklin 14 Final

Always happy to be wrong when it means a Bulldog win. 'Dogs looked much better up front tonight, just too strong in the trenches for the Panthers. Another top performance from the Murphy defense, 'Dogs had 3 or 4 interceptions and dominated the line of scrimmage. If 'Dogs can find a passing game, look out.

Really hope #28 Murray is ok, hurt his ankle in the 3rd quarter and never came back in, can not afford to lose him.
