Congratulations to the Northwest girls ( 4-A ) , Northern girls ( 3-A ), Eastern boys ( 3-A ), and the Southwest boys in 4-A. The Northwest girls defeated previously unbeaten Mallard Creek to reach the finals, while the Southwest boys were victorious versus Butler, also unbeaten until they played Southwest. The Northern girls beat Jacksonville to advance, while the Eastern boys defeated conference foe Northern to board The Ship's premises. Northern , losing their top scorer in the second round at West Brunswick, scrapped their way to the Final Four as a sixteen seed. Congrats to Coach Chambers and the gutty Nighthawk squad. A standing ovation to the girls of Northwest, the Northern girls, the Eastern boys, and the Southwest boys. Go over yonder and show 'em where The Bling belongs.

Big congrats to my good friend Guy Shavers and the SW Guilford Cowboys!!! and another program that was always near and dear to me...the Eastern Guilford Wildcats!!! GREAT JOB!!
Shavers is a great guy! Super attitude and really loves the kids.
Thought NWG nearly blew it and Butler did.
It amazes me how bad clock management and basics are kicked to the curb in high school basketball.
Providence Day boys and girls are probably the best in Meck. I know G Day and HP Wesleyan beat SWG early in the season. How would they match up end of season.
Best player I watched Saturday was the sophomore from Cox Mill. Complete package. Twins from SWG are electrifying.
Look for Mallard Creek and NWG to be back in the mix for the girls title next year.

I haven't seen GD play this year....or HPW but typically they have a LOT more size and a different type of athlete than everyone else. A lot easier when you have a bunch of DI and high DII kids. Although SWG has the twins, which are those type of athletes.
