In North Carolina and/or nation wide, is there an age limit for high school kids to play football?

If they are over that age limit, is a waiver applied?

How is all this applied on the field?

If you turn 19 before the first official practice you are ineligible...... but if you are playing for private school I think the rules get skewed a little bit

Different age rules state to state. Florida is notorious for having some of their biggest football stars ever be almost 20 playing HS football such as Calvin Ridley (Bama) and Kelvin Benjamin (FSU). Those guys were awsome HS WRs down in the South Florida area but were well over the age of 19 and would have been ineligible in almost any other state besides Florida their senior year.

That’s lame... go play college ball!!..At 19 against 14-16 yr olds .. I guess some people need to stand out!

Florida: on the day the student athlete turns 19 years and 9 full months they can no longer participate in athletics. Players have played in the state semifinals and not been allowed to play in the title game due to hitting the number.

Are there a bunch of qualified 19yr old players suiting up this year in NC that anyone is aware of?

If anyone is 19 right now they should be ineligible period! Definitely in Charlotte!...Sr year should have been last year!

Are you saying you have lethal proof of unqualified 19yr old players that are actually on the roster in Charlotte? Is they 19 or 19 1/2?

He is saying he knows in Charlotte it is not allowed.

The age limit is a statewide rule.
