I like the WHC with Polk and Hendo they were both in our conference for a long time, six of those SMC teams don't play football that's also been a conference thing for a long time.Polk to Avery is still a two-hour drive. and the SMC won't be able to schedule any non-conference games for sports other than football with 13 teams.
I like the conferences for the Burke schools, though.
Switch Polk with W. Caldwell (both 3A) and I think there would be shorter drives for most teams. Or at least a fairer split.I like the WHC with Polk and Hendo they were both in our conference for a long time
Without them some teams are making 3 hour trips.Split conferences are f'n dumb

if they were going to keep split conferences they could’ve easily kept that ECC together. However some very good teams would be seeded very low due to the trashy system they have.Clinton

I agree, NC does not have the population that states like Texas and California have.Exactly why 8 classes is overboard
So your saying 1a 1b 2A 2b 3a 3b 4a 4b4 classifications was fine. you just need to split playoffs into small and big. it makes conferences easier to group but allows larger and smaller schools to be separated as they need to be.
They can barley handle switching what every 4 years? Imagine 2???NC should also keep conferences the same but go to 2 year terms for what classification you play in the playoffs.
just like it was a few years ago. A/AA for each classification.So your saying 1a 1b 2A 2b 3a 3b 4a 4b
They do not have to do anything. you stay in your conference. you literally just get moved come playoff time if your adm #s have jumped one direction or the other. They can barley handle switching what every 4 years? Imagine 2???

One of the biggest complaints there are on the other boards is that some people think there's unfair competition between them and other schools in their classification. If we're already going to have playoffs for 8 classes then why not do this for basketball, baseball, soccer and some of the other sports?Yeah but this only needs to happen in football not other sports
yeah it should be like this for all sports. larger schools have an advantage no matter what sport it is.One of the biggest complaints there are on the other boards is that some people think there's unfair competition between them and other schools in their classification. Fewer classifications make it easier to make conferences, but more playoffs remove some of the unfairness of having schools that are a lot larger or smaller compete for championships.
I hope you guys play havelock on a JK bye week. I’d love to see that.ED in a 4A/5A split.
Yeah, might be a top conference in the state depending on how Richland’s and swo do!We had a home and home with Havelock in 2008-2009. ED won both. That projected conference could be brutal if Richlands has really turned a corner & SWO hires the right coach. I live in Onslow county; there is plenty of talent here.
SW will be a threat again, if they hire the right coach. SW has tons of talent, just have to be able to relate to them. That simpleYeah, might be a top conference in the state depending on how Richland’s and swo do!
Football is a numbers/depth game. Other sports are not that way (as much) at least. For example when whiteville had mackenzie gore and the other pitcher (can’t remeber his name) they would have probably won any classification…you never hear a 1a that could win the 4a in football. Occasionally a 3a might but even that is rare extremelyOne of the biggest complaints there are on the other boards is that some people think there's unfair competition between them and other schools in their classification. Can you get em back from Jacksonville and Northside🤣SW will be a threat again, if they hire the right coach. SW has tons of talent, just have to be able to relate to them. That simple
We used to have one championship event for wrestling and track with no classifications. If you won a wrestling weight class or a track event, then you were the state champion and any school who got the most points at that event won the state championship. The NCHSAA went away from that to give more kids and schools the opportunity to compete and that's all we'd be doing by subdividing in all sports. There's no good reason not to as more communities would have the chance to brag about their kids winning a state championship in whatever sport.Football is a numbers/depth game.
