Looks like the remarkable run of conference championships in both basketball and football that started with the older Surratt brother Chaz and has been continued by younger brother Sage potentially comes to an end tonight in basketball with a defeat. To go out a winner Sage would have been better off being back at East Lincoln instead of Lincolnton for basketball.

I want to let everyone know what a classless coach cowie is ive never seen a head coach call timeout just to get in a kids face to clap. Just so everyone knows im not making excuses on west losing cause im not lincolnton was the much better team tonight. But as far as cowie goes hes a joke and i hope he reads this, i guess hes still mad at west from a few years ago when west beat them at home with a team of freshman and he even brought in east burkes head coach to help him. Its a shame that he was allowed to act in that manner if i have anything to do with it will be dealt with, but on a side note the kids played well sage is a real stud thats forsure good luck to him at wake. As for cowie i will be sitting right behind u when your season ends clapping in your face and see how u like it.
Cowie definitely showed some disrespect, but I think he and the Lincolnton players felt like they had been disrespected by the WC players being mouthy both games.
Are you saying you're gonna skip WC's playoff games just to be at our games and rub it in Cowie's face if/when they get knocked out?
Having a son on this Lincolnton basketball team ....and knowing the main facts of this whole ordeal from the actions of coach Cowie on Tues night this was a long time coming. First off knowing first hand when WC came to our place earlier and gave us our first loss on the season...if you weren't there to see the actions of the WC players, fans, and yes also their coach on our floor you obviously don't know the situation. Now were his actions warranted ....NO....but all coaches who feel disrespected in their house... Always get it back...like it was said...we told them we will see you again...and in Gamewell...Cowies emotions got the better of him...but if you also noticed at the game...self control has to go both ways...people out the stands...players being mouthy...etc etc....point is...if you can't take it...by all means don't dish it out!!!!

Cowie is a overrated coach bottom line, hes still mad cause he got beat by a team of freshman in the playoffs a few years back. No matter what kids do as a adult u dont stoop to their level, and i couldn't imagine the west coach saying anything out of the way i mean he dont even coach the team
How is he overrated? Did someone, somewhere ever say he was great? I've never heard anyone praise his coaching ability. Most people around here have always thought his coaching philosophies haven't matched the type of players he's had.
And it was all the clapping and chanting and yeaaaahhhhhhhh-ing that WC did all night at Lincolnton that pissed off everyone.
Coach Lyerly from west is a good young coach who is working his way up the ranks and he had the balls to follow behind a legend in Danny Anderson who thought the cubbard was empty at west so he got out. Would you not be excited to beat a really good team. Who was undefeated at the time. As for L towns coach cowie has always been a guy who is sour whether he wins or loses. Both games were good games. iCardcav3 are you a west Caldwell supporter or a Danny Anderson disciple who like most of Gamewell doesn't want change because you all are still 20 years behind stuck in the Mayberry days. And as far as who is coaching the team. Lyerly is the coach who is got you setting at 19-5 finished 12-2 in a tough league when nobody gave him a chance. I see why Chip English left WC. It's idiots like you IcardCav that good young coaches wouldn't dare stay look at your history of coaches back to the Paul hoggart days.
He dont coach this west team the players do if u cant see that your just crazy, and yea they did go 12-2 in the conference this year which is not as strong as it has been in years past they want be a team reach the state finals from this conference. West caldwell basketball isnt what it used to be ask anybody whos been a loyal fan for 15+ years the stuff that is going on right now would have never went on under coach A but people want to talk crap about coach A hes sure is doing a good job at maiden with 0 basketball talent. But if west is lucky they will be looking for true leadership after next week
Chip left for more money thats it. He just happened to come at the right time with a few great players he done a great job at winning with them and then got his opportunity for more money
1. All of us Lincolnton people know that Cowie isn't the best coach around. He has had some of the most basketball talent and done so little with it.
2. Do you really believe we care about a game that was played 5 years ago? Move on bro. Basketball isn't that big of a deal in Lincolnton but its nice when we have a good team.
First round was last night (Tuesday). All the higher seeds won. Lincolnton plays Maiden tonight, and WC plays East Lincoln tomorrow. Championship on Friday. All at CVCC.
I took in the championship game last night and I have to commend the coaching job by Lincolnton's coaching staff. To gain the win, as they did coming from behind down 14 early in the 4th quarter, and to gain the overtime win was admirable. It was a great game by both teams as East Lincoln lead early on until the first points of overtime.

Say what you will about this young man.....but he's a genuine player...hands down!!!!! It's been a pleasure to get to know him and his parents...
