I willAcesWilds are you going to post the update of the game Friday between Holmes and Northeastern on NC Preps? Thanks.
Thanks AcesWild2323 wish I could be there. Also if you can check this kid from Bunn whom is not playing for A&T State University to night on ESPNU against Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach,FL.. His name is Tarik Cohen he remind me of keion Bailey from Holmes same size and speed. As a matter of fact tell your fans also to watch him some people in social media are saying he should be in the Heisman Trophy running he one of the best back in the country and we all should be proud of him to even be mention regarding the Heisman but we all know because of the small school 1AA status he won't get it but he's a good humble young man and very polite. Coming from Bunn he only had one offer and it wasn't D1 but A&T game him the opportunity that's one reason he stated that he play so hard to show people he belong. Thanks.I will
AcesWild2323 what happen? Were the players too hyped or where the Aces out coached on both side of the ball? Thanks.NE 35 Holmes 14 half
The Aces coaches and players knew they could be playing for the conference championship and home field advantage and should have been ready to play. Plus I heard that the Northeastern coaching staff wanted to put the ball in Luke Hoggard the head coach son who play QB and let him beat them and he failed the test. The Aces got to do what they do best and pound the ball to wear the defensive line down. I'm quite sure going forward the other teams the Aces play not just in the conference but in the playoff are going to try and use the same format that Northeastern used. Also the Aces secondary must be taught to stay with the WR's at all times when they play a team that pass a lot. Holmes was out coached by Moore and his staff for the first time in the series since Mattera and Hoggard been together. Just my opinion. Thanks. The Aces were just outplayed in all aspects of the game.. The Eagles were pumped and primed for a game that has early season repercussions... The winner was believed to be NCC conference champs plus a chance to win out and become #1 seed in the 2a East playoffs..... Home field will be major this playoff season ... Good luck to the Eagles and Aces as they move forward in their seasons , as well as a great playoff run for both teams...
When was the last win that Mattera or Hoggard got against Coach Moore and the Eagles...been at least 5 or 6 yrs..... That series has never been close...Matter of fact I believe the Aces have only 2 wins in 10 yrs against Moore's Eagles... So that sums the series up and removes any merit of your opinion...The Aces coaches and players knew they could be playing for the conference championship and home field advantage and should have been ready to play. So what are you saying that the Northeastern players are better than Holmes or their coaching staff is better? In a game of this magnitude and with good players and big playmakers both sides, I would definite give the edge more to the staff. NHS imposed their will all night, and totally took away the game plan of the Aces... Both teams have players that will play and do well on the next level, I just see Coach Moore uses what you give him ....also he makes sure that his team comes ready to play...So what are you saying that the Northeastern players are better than Holmes or their coaching staff is better? So more of less what you are saying the Aces staff didn't make the necessary adjustment at half time and the Holmes coaches did have their players ready to play for the conference championship. I think if possible the game should have been played last week against Currituck. If Currituck field was not flooded or under water the Aces staff should insisted on playing the game I think that layoff contribute some toward the way the Aces offense played. Timing is very important when you run an option offense especially if you are not hitting in practice. The Aces last win was 2012 when they lost to Tarboro in the third round of the playoff in Gurley senior year. Tarboro did win the state championship that year although they had lost two regular season games so the Aces still have a chance to win the state or at least get there if they make a few adjustment like if they are going to continue to run the dive option then they need to start playing Kory Gilliam who was going to be the starter before Hoggard came and put his son at that position. Again no disrespect to the coach son but he don't have the necessary speed you need to run the dive option he's a good passer and very accurate the majority of the time now if they go to a full house or an I formation then he would be fine but the dive option offense against very good teams they will face in the playoff aren't going to work. Northeastern exposed that Friday night their top rusher and # four in the state in rushing only had 61yds rushing because Northeastern shut down the dive option. When was the last win that Mattera or Hoggard got against Coach Moore and the Eagles...been at least 5 or 6 yrs..... Are you sure it wasn't 2011 because in 2012 the Aces won the regular season game...then embarrassed themselves on the field by acting like they had won the championship and a few weeks later Coach Moore and the Eagles went to their house and beat them just like they just did and knocked them out the playoffs...The Eagles went on to play Gurley and Tarborro in the regional semis....The Aces last win was 2012 when they lost to Tarboro in the third round of the playoff in Gurley senior year. No it was 2012 score 28-21 Holmes last time Edenton won. You are right the Aces won 20-17 in Edenton when they came back in the second half to win coach Mattera second year and lost to Tarboro in the third round with Gurley. Sorry, my bag. I'm almost sure that Gurley and Tarborro lost the finals that year to the West...
AcesWild2323 glad to see you back and hope all is well with your family. Do you expect coach Hoggard and Mattera to do any tweet on both the offense and defense side of the ball. With no disrespect to the Aces Luke is not fast nor mobile enough to run the dive option. I heard before the season that he didn't want to play QB anyway but wanted to play LB. They could make him a fullback and run a straight T along with Hall and Bailey in the back field put Kory Gilliam who played QB before Hoggard came back at that position because he can run the dive option and is a decent passer. They are going to need to change something before the playoff because teams now see how Northeastern stopped the option.I apologize for my absence. I was quite shell shocked during and after the game and then I had to leave town early Saturday morning on a family matter. Give all due credit to NE. Without taking credit away from NE the long and short of it is NE played a perfect game and Holmes had 5 turnovers. The Aces will be fine when it is all said and done and seeing NE first hand I expect big things out of them.
NE did a great job on the dive play. I doubt you will see any major changes on offense though. The five TOs just killed any momentum we could have built on offense. Most Aces fans who witness the Northeastern and other games the Aces have played since coach Hoggard tenure they know Luke Hoggard is not quick enough against a good team to run the dive option successfully regular against good teams with eight in the box they have a lot of fumbles between the QB's and RB's because the defense be shooting the A and B gap causing the fumble as soon as the QB attempt to hand ball off or attempt to pitch it out Luke is a senior and should have the option to change the play if he see the rush coming from the LB's.NE did a great job on the dive play.
