WRH vs. Goldsboro (Game of week) - Goldsboro’s last chance to make any noise this year. Unfortunately with this being in Wallace I don’t see it happening. Goldsboro loses another heartbreaker. WRH 24 Goldsboro 16

East Duplin vs. Midway - ED wins big 55-14

Clinton vs. Spring Creek - Clinton by a landslide 63-0

James Kenan (Bye) - Huge week for the Tigers to get a head start on preparing for East Duplin. Sitting at 3-0 heading into the bye is an excellent spot for the team to re-group and get right mentally and physically for what should be an exciting last 3 weeks of the season.

Definitely wont be a exciting game for us but atleast some of the younger guys will get plenty of playin time.

One thing i would like to see is our first teams excute efficiently dont wanna see us play down to our competition.....go at it like your playing WRH or East Duplin......hopefully its not a repeat of last year alot of unsportsmanlike penalties and personal fouls some real dirty undisciplined playing not on our part but Spring Creeks.

Spring Creek knows there is a slim to no chance that they will win, so they will try to draw opposing players into a fight(physical or verbal) that gets them disqualified. And if a player is disqualified from a game, then they automatically miss the next game. So Clinton will have to keep their wits about them.

Just send the JV team don’t risk losing any starters

Spring Creek fields no jv but they were able to get EE Smith JV to agree to a game just like they did with Greys Creek last year so the JV will be heading to Fayetteville Thursday evening.....i do expect lot of them to get some valuable playing time in the 2nd half of the varsity game

It would be nice to be able to schedule more Cumberland County teams to play in the future.

they won't play the DarkHorses, too much to potentially lose ( playoff seeding) and not much to gain. At least that's been their position in the past. It's not a new idea.

Well maybe someone like EE Smith,Westover,Douglas Bryd still Cumberland county but not much for those teams to lose not really contenders

No, it's certainly not a new idea. I wouldn't think it would be a lot to lose on JB's part, as Clinton is regarded as one of the most storied programs in the state. I can see if they were playing and lost to a Hobbton or a Union(no disrespect to either school). Like DH#34 stated, other schools don't have an issue playing us. Maybe they're just scared. In the words of Coach Lewis, "If you're scared, say you're scared!" LOL

The only Wilmington school we haven't played yet in football is Ashley. The last time we played New Hanover was in the 92-93 season(my senior year) and lost to them 27-7. They were nationally ranked at the time and Trot Nixon was the QB. We were actually leading them 7-0 into the 3rd quarter and was a defensive game until the Wildcat coaching staff complained to the officials that we were tackling Nixon "too low" by hitting him in the lower legs. We couldn't touch him basically, and they went on to score 27 unanswered points in the 4th quarter.

Teams I would like to see ECC schedule. East Bladen (they play Clinton but I would love to see JK, WRH, ED added in there). Jacksonville (same as East Bladen), JH Rose, DH Conley, New Bern, Kinston (a Clinton Kinston game would be exciting), New Hanover, Northeastern (every year someone from ECC should have to play Northeastern), West Craven, Whiteville, Southwest Onslow (same as East Bladen, teams should alternate having SWO). And an interesting matchup would be Ravenscroft.

Clinton has played JH Rose back in the late 90's. I agree, a Clinton/Kinston matchup would be sweet, and maybe we could schedule Actionville(Jacksonville) in the future, as we have no qualms about traveling to Onslow County. During this current realignment, East Bladen was supposed to be in the ECC, but EB said that the travel would be too great, traveling to Goldsboro on a weeknight(basketball/baseball season, for example), so they replaced EB with Spring Creek. NE playing an ECC team every year would be great! Ravenscroft is no stranger to Sampson County, as they play Harrells Christian Academy every year.

God I wish EB could reconsider. At the next realignment Spring Creek and Midway have to go.

You might get your Clinton-Kinston matchup in the coming weeks if we are indeed going 2AA may cross paths in the playoffs......one thing i like about 2AA we see some teams we dont normally play

High School OT has playoff projections out and the seeding is a bit alarming. I know Clinton says they will probably be 2AA but currently they have WRH (8) Clinton (11) JK (14) Goldsboro (15). East Duplin (2) in the 2AA

Thought Wallace was one of the smallest 2A schools by nunbers? Unless they had a gigantic freshman class

I guess that’s with Clinton’s shortened schedule and they’re factoring in a Clinton loss or two.

That make Clinton playing the 6th seed which is who? We will be toughest 11 seed in playoffs

With possibly 5 teams in the Ecc making it to the playoffs and no clear cut favorite there is no way to be very sure how playoffs will shake out . That’s just our conference I think a lot of eastern conferences can be decided at the beginning of October ( SWO, NE, SC,SG). With others this year it is not as easy to crown a champ. As everyone likes to say we have to play the games not just something to say we really do have to finish to even start projecting at least for the ecc

Agreed thats why i thought it was funny after the 2 ball games people were talking about this conference being a 2 team race lol

Agreed. So far Coach Johnson and staff have been impressive especially dealing with so many injuries.....i still believe if we replay that first game of the season now the result would be different offensive coordinator has found what works we have a identity on offense we didnt have vs Cape Fear

I was one too but even Clinton faithful can admit after last year and new coach Clinton was at least an “if”to start the season especially when no one knows how good anyone’s competition is that early on but Clinton seems to be right in the mix which makes this conference better I would hate to be in a week conference knowing you were going to have a running clock and playing subs at halftime I really wish we could pick our conference foes but with Jk. And Golds headed up we are not as top heavy as a lot of conferences
