That was a great ballgame.
Honestly, I didn't think I would type the sentence above a couple days ago. The Patriots looked like absolute crap a week ago against Randleman.
However, PG looked like absolute gold last night. IMO, they played their best game of the season. Jacob Grantham, Zane Cheek, and Zander Cheek had great games. PG was aggressive and knocking down a lot of open looks.
PG needed some breaks to go their way and they got a few. The biggest break was when Timmy Brower picked up his fifth foul midway through the third. Brower had been having a good game and was giving the Pats a lot of trouble. Unfortunately for PG, they couldn't take advantage.
Devonte Brooks took over the fourth quarter and hit quite a few easy buckets. Connor Carter got hot from beyond the arc. Julian Brooks had a couple of big buckets. These three carried the Cats to victory. Devonte ended up hitting the game-winning free throws. Carter hit a huge three at the end of the third off a set play. He's been shooting the ball a lot better lately.
This game was intense. Bodies were flying everywhere at times. Crowd was absolutely electric. ER/PG has become a pretty intense rivalry over the last few years.
Final score was 88-84. PG travels to Trinity on Monday. ER awaits the winner of Randleman/Uwharrie on Wednesday. Cats are hosting the finals. Should be fun.
