I saw this in the Lincoln Times-News. He is taking a program with a rich tradition and numerous titles but has been Down in recent years. I would say they got the right man for the job. There are certain coaches able to do that and he is obviously one of them.
According to the article his record is 134-37, at East Lincoln. Off the top of the head that's a winning percentage of about eighty percent. For a twelve year stint, numbers like those are hard to beat. Here is the link:

Here are a couple of articles in the Parkersburg News and Sentinel, prior to this month:

Looks like there was a good bit of interest in their coaching position.

One of the East Lincoln posters called me a homer, once, and so did one of our posters. I'd like to think he was referring to the baseball term but my sense of modesty and reason got the better of me. Being from Lincolnton, I'll wear that label any day, even though I'm sure the East Lincoln poster meant it in derogatory fashion. I got to admit that I do wonder what it would be like living in another state. I looked at Parkersburg on the map and it appears to be in the northern part of that state (not Wheeling north) near the Ohio line. Looks like it might be a decent place. Summers probably aren't as hot and that would be a good thing. Wonder if any of the staff at East will go with him ?

I believe that if anybody can turn a program around it is mike Byus... what a great, and innovative coach, Parkersburg got a good one

Hopefully he has a few left over Assistants that want what he does out of the student athletes.

Yes, my friend Mr. Lincolnton, you are a homer and it has nothing to do with a baseball term. But you are a good "homer".

Good luck coach. He is a good coach but didn't do much in Robbinsville.
