Just asking a question here. Does anyone know if the starting RB from Oak Grove moved and is going to school/playing for East Davidson this year? I saw East Davidson has him listed on the roster. Is that correct or a typo?

No, he will still be at Oak Grove as far as I know. I don't know why his name hasn't been removed yet. My son will be a senior at East this year and has been going to workouts and he hasn't heard anything different.

Yes, he is still at Oak Grove. He doesn’t live in the Oak Grove district, but he is legal to play there due to his mother being on staff. The kid is one heck of an athlete. Plays multiple sports, and I hear nothing but good things about him from those who know him.

I feel bad for East though.

It was hard last year for East with Coach coming back and getting started late then the projected starter at RB left right before the first practice started. It took them a while to adjust and really affected their entire season IMO with them only winning 2 games. They have a lot of seniors this year and enough talent to win several games in my opinion if they put kids in the right spots and get the kids to buy in to what the coaches want to do. Should be an interesting year.

I am rooting for them. I’ve got friends over there and I wish them success.
Football and East Davidson don’t always go hand in hand... but they are working toward success instead of whining about not having any.
I like that. I wish some of the other Davidson County schools that are struggling had a similar mindset.

I like my Golden Eagles. I graduated from there in 85 and played football there as well. Coach Hanner and his staff does a great job coaching the players there year end and year out. I feel it was a setback when we lost the RB to Oak Grove. I feel the coaches and players were counting on him being there. Sometimes you have to play the cards you are dealt when it comes to coaching and sports. I would like to see East Davidson have a good season this year.

East has good numbers and size every year. Getting a little more athletic also. Hanner can get them back to tough physical football soon enough and competing with the middle of the league.

I heard from a reliable source that Coach Hanner is probably going to put his best players on defense this year. Last year he didn't do that and so the team struggled some games to keep other teams offense off the field. It also took them a while to figure out who to put at RB after the projected starter transferred. With 8 or 9 starters returning on offense I believe they should be improved.

QB can throw the ball, got to protect him and he can make some yards with his arm. If they make him run with the ball, not good. Defense needs to be real good to keep the score down.

Coach Hanner always does a great job coaching the players up at East. One thing I would like to see him do is throw the ball a little bit more this year. They have a speedy receiver #4 who had no problem getting behind the safeties downfield last year. The QB (Spencer Leonard) has a good arm so I think they can be successful throwing the ball.
