I hear Spring Creek is going independent, making scheduling a mess for remaining teams in EC conference. Heard WRH is gonna be playing Havelock and Wake Forrest this upcoming season. Hearing Clinton will be playing 2 additional 3A schools, nothing confirmed yet.

Games I know of certainty:
Cape Fear (Home)
East Bladen (Home)
Jacksonville NS (Road)

Then conference games
2 other non-conference games yet to be finalized.

Also Clinton will play in Cumberland Co. jamboree this year as well as Sampson Co. Jamboree.

I figured with Coach Johnson Cumberland County roots it would only be a matter of time before we were back playing in the Cumberland county jamboree......interested in seeing who they add to the schedule....3A schools in decent travel range...maybe Triton,Southern Lee,Smithfield-Selma or maybe Greys Creek

I’m hearing Oxford Webb and Central Carrubus.

Both Away, long trips. CC is just north of Charlotte.

Nothing final.

Central Carrubus is a 3 hour ride from Clinton.....Oxford about 2 hours from Clinton...both away games....geez.......record wise CC 8-4 seems like a average to above average squad....Webb 0-10 last season

I’m intrigued... So lets say that Spring Creek indeed goes independent...

It’s up to them to schedule 11 games on their own. From what little I know about them, they aren’t a play off quality team and haven’t been for years.

What are the rules concerning an independent team. Can they ever qualify for the playoffs? I kind of hope that they can’t.

I've been to Central Cabarrus, they have a very nice stadium, converted to a turf field a couple of years ago. They had a great team in years past, but with the explosive growth of the county, they lost a lot of students to filling in the new high schools.

I think Kestrel Heights made the playoffs a few years ago as an independent. They won nine games if my memory is correct.

I could see it as a 1A team. I can’t imagine what a 2A team would benefit from doing this.

This conference is a meat grinder. Not only that, its getting better... So if this is true, maybe Spring Creek’s goal is just not to get mauled week in and week out.

Just speculating, but with Coach Johnson being a grad of nearby Catawba College, there may be a connection between him and the program of nearby Cabarrus County.

I see where Clinton coaches had a meeting with interested student-athletes...79 attended which isnt bad also considering this didnt include the incoming freshman class....of course we know the chances of those numbers dwindling down over the summer but thats pretty solid good to see kids interested in playing.......any more word on the schedule for this upcoming season

Nah, I haven't heard anything new myself.

Definitely seeing the effects of the Johnson led workout routines for Clinton in the weightroom....some of these kids getting big you can tell they been working all winter...i see a couple guys not named Kaba turning some heads next season aswell.....Rising senior OL Andrew Leggett being one of them 6'3 260 3 year starter expect some offers to be coming his way.....i said it would be interesting to see what Johnson and his staff would do with a full offseason this time around....Spring camp right around the corner

When I saw the workout routines he led while at Scotland, I thought he would bring that same work ethic to Clinton, and he did. There were a few games last season where the O-line and D-line were out muscled. But now that Coach Johnson has a full 7-8 months to work with the fellas, that weight room culture will get stronger and stronger.

On another note, I see that we are playing J.F. Webb and Central Cabarrus in consecutive road games. I wonder if this is going to be a one season thing or a home and home series? Also Central has a turf field, which I'm sure none or very few of the players have played on before.
