Coach T.J. Albert just called me to explain what happened. They are upset at what has been posted on here.

CSD plays at North Meck and North Meck's season ended in the first round. The press box was cleaned out of their stuff. The national anthem was on a cd that was removed from the press box.

Yes, CSD did play pre-game music because it was their cd. Nobody realized the cd with the national anthem was gone until the time to play it. The captains were called to the field by the refs and the game was started.

Coach Albert wanted everybody to know it was just a simple misunderstanding and they have their own CD now with the anthem. There will be a very Patriotic atmosphere at this week's game due to what was posted on here.

Just wanted to make things clear!!!

I'm from a military family and my father is a veteran. Thanks to all of our military!!

Haven't seen any apologies yet
Apologies for what ? Concerned Americans wanting to know why the National Anthem was not played ! Music was played ! The Coach explained the situation and what happened and I totally understand.
I realize they don't have their on football facilities and I see how this could happen. What citizen that had been to sporting events for 45 years and had never once had this happen not question it !! Maybe the PA announcer could have addressed this before the game but everything has been cleared up, so please, no need for sarcastic remarks

at rosewood high, besides the varsity football, we have the middle school, soccer and youth ball that use the press box and i learned many a moon ago too have back ups as the same thing happened too me years ago. no doubt this school as all our schools in our great state support our usa!

I've been to sporting events all over NC. I've been to basketball games where there has not been any anthem. Some schools do a moment of silence as well.

I wasn't being sarcastic at all, dead serious. Those like you who berated this school should apologize to them

People should not apologize for this. The situation has been explained and people should move on. Why should the school deserve an apology? It could have been explained that night or maybe the PA announcer could have led the fans in the singing.

The ONLY apology that needs to be made is one from The Community School of Davidson....It was their mistake, and not the mistake of Veterans like myself or other Veterans who may have attended the game, and were rightly offended that the National Anthem wasn't played, prior to the game....This is America, and people need to speak up when something like this happens whether it was a mistake or not?....I'm proud of everyone that posted their displeasure about this incident, and I'm also proud of Head Coach Albert for setting the record straight, and explaining the honest mistake that was made, and will be interested to hear what will transpire before the 3rd round playoff game this friday with Thomas Jefferson?....

As for Apologies,I don't apologize for being a Veteran who is proud of my Country!

Tigertown, if you have ever posted on the front porch you would understand how 3D is.

do they have an AD?? maybe someone in charge of the pressbox game days?? there are things you make sure of gameday: PA...scoreboard operator....time keeper and making sure the Star Spangled Banner is heard whether its the band, a CD or someone singing....bet they carry that CD from here on in a velvet case

For 2 JV games this year we had technical difficulties and the Star Spangled Banner would not play over the p.a. system. D.C. Collins asked if we all would join together as Americans and sing the National Anthem. Our football team drowned out the crowd singing. They were no church choir by any means, but it did this ole boys heart good to hear those young men singing our National Anthem to the top of their lungs.

I do not think that you were one of the ones that attacked them so the statement was probably not pointed toward you I do not speak for 3d but that would be my guess.

It is not the fact that people complained but people's integrity and patriotism was questioned immediately. Ask for an explanation and lets see where it goes from there. Sure, the school did not handle this well. A quick explanation over the PA system would have did the job. I think the Pledge of the Allegiance would have been a great alternative. If someone with a nice voice could have went at it a cappella that would have been more impressive and no one would have known that someone blew it or they could have still let the fans know about the slip up.

North Meck allows CSD to use their stadium. The CD is set with the National Anthem. North's season ended and they cleaned out the press box. It happens. We have all been caught in situations that resemble this. I expect that CSD is still feeling their way in a lot of area.

For the people that have a problem about the Star Spangled Banner not being played stand back and watch at games how many people do not remove their hats, goof off, talk on the phone, or continue walking toward their seats or wherever they are going. Ridiculous. I stand at Parade Rest with my hand over my heart and sing the song (may be not that well) because I love it.

So no one in the press box had a smart phone with internet connection? All they had to do was go to you tube and find the song and play it over the PA. But atleast they admitted their mistake.

Ms Deana,
As a Soldier I would like to thank you for following up and broadcasting the answer to the occasion. It was a simple mistake and the question was answered. I guess my only suggestion is to make sure whoever is in charge of playing it, that they do a pre-inspection of the area and play the CD prior to the game to assure everything functions well.

Again thank you.
Questioned answered, end of this story

Just a guess on my part, by the time they realized they did not have the CD they were out of time. I think where they missed is just not making an announcement.

Folks tend to forget that high schools aren't the University of Alabama or the Green Bay Packers, with tons of gameday staff or Associate Assistant Athletic Directors for National Anthem Playing solely focused on their duty. Just because you see flawless presentations on TV or at your favorite college stadium doesn't mean it all goes down without a hitch. AD's, principals, and other staff are making sure folks are getting in the gate, the officials are paid, security is on site, the clock works, the goalposts are padded, the visiting team can get into their locker room and the concession stand has change, among others.

They made the mistake of assuming. It happens. None of you critics have lived a mistake free life as far as I know. Get off your high horse. There was no intent to piss off vets or any other American citizen for that matter.

And not questioning peoples patriotism without first knowing the facts is how we should treat our fellow citizens
