Heritage better play better than they did tonight the kicking game is killing heritage right now ,
Mount Airy's all time record against Corvian is 0-1 and against Mountain Heritage is 0-0.

It's definitely a weakness for them. My advice would be since they apparently can't kick it deep and as quick as Corvian is I'd just kick it out of bounds.
35 yard line is much better then them getting it pass the 50 or running it back for a TD.
Too many penalties. False starts, illegal downfield. Gotta clean that up.
Corvian has a very good defensive line. They caused a ton of problems for Mitchell. Now granted Mitchell is not the same caliber of team that MH is this year. MH will have to capitalize on long time consuming drives and cut down on penalties. If they do that I think they can win this ball game
Guys Murphy ain’t some no name cupcake. I thought Heritage played pretty well against a 12-1 Murphy team that came into the game on a 12 game winning streak and a SMC championship. How bad did y’all expect Heritage to beat the Dogs?? IMO if Heritage plays like they did tonight, they will beat Corvian too. I hope Heritage brings it home for that community. They deserve it.
As for Murphy, even though the seniors will be dearly missed, the Dogs didn’t have very many this year. The best days are ahead for this team. 2A better be on notice for the next few years if Murphy can stay healthy and keep this roster together. I’m proud of the way this team played this season and for everything it accomplished. This team battled through several key injuries and still had an incredible season. Good job men! Can’t wait til next season. So long 1a!

I agree but it depends what Heritage team shows up. If a good disciplined and clean Heritage team shows up I'm taking Heritage by 1 or 2 touchdowns. If we show up undisciplined and unclean and we get a lot of penalties like last night then I could see this game being a nail bitter.
I don’t know much except what I was told before the 1A playoffs started. An assistant coach told me his money was on Mount Heritage because when they played ER tough couple years back those sophomores were now seniors and would be a tough out. I’ve seen Corvian up close and while they are an interesting team, I still contend the loss by ER in that game was more about ER hurting themselves.

Special teams can make or break you in the playoffs.
Although I think Joey is a great coach, it seems each time he has a team that can make a run, he never has a kicking game. That is a failure on his part to not A. Develope a kicker or B get a soccer player to kick. That has cost him at least a couple times in these deep playoff runs
They will pin heritage back all nite , that is the best option kick it out , if u give them the 50 it will be trouble . Coravian is very good against the run .

ER had a passing game. Mt Airy just never really developed one. Have to have that to open up the run.
A good kicking game is a big weapon in high school football that is not something that not a lot of hs teams have. And even more in these close playoff games, like last night in the Mtn Heritage- Murphy game just think if MH even though they won anyway but if they had a good field goal kicker at the end of the first half when they were running out of time in the half instead of trying to pass for a TD, 3 points in a close game means a lot.

When you are blowing teams out how hard would it be to send a prospect kicker out on the field to practice in game situation extra points. Frankly I don’t mind that he doesn’t kick field goal but the extra point thing cost him vs Reidsville in particular I believe when his son played
Reidsville won 27-20 that year they were up 21-20 at one point but scored late
2A will have Charlotte charter, Coravian to deal with next year because their ADMs puts them there.
I know some like my oldest brother who thinks that even with a good kicker that in HS would still go for 2 points. That you really practice it , Joey has always had high percentage in 2 pont conversions.
But it's a two edge sword, make them you put the other teams who probably doesn't practice it as much at a disadvantage but don't get them in a close game can bite you.

It had some kind of affect on the game that I remember. It definitely changes your approach when you have to make up for that point. It could be you play for overtime or change your offensive approach from desperate to normal and in control
Also the kickoffs are a problem too. To have a kicker who makes you start from the 20 each time is a huge weapon
Heritage special teams do have dangerous return men too. Cason Jones has taken back some for TDs. I don't think it's that big of a deal honestly. I have watched all of their playoff runs and it's never been the main reason they lost.
Win lose or draw the next two weeks I think this team and that 2017 team might be the the best two teams that Heritage has ever had, 2008, 2009 and 2018 were all special teams but this team and 2017 were the best, Heritage has been on a special run for the last 16 years under coach Robinson I'm not sure how we'll fair after he's gone, I mean for all I know he'll be coaching when he's seventy but I'd say this is the best chance we have to win a state title for the next several years

We had a kicker that could kick it in the end zone occasionally but on artificial turf the crazy bounces is better to keep it on the ground.
