The wait is almost over. Just glad to have a season August thru December just didnt feel the same yeah i watched some private school ball and of course college/pro but for me nothing like those Friday Night Lights at DH Stadium.

As far as this game goes i dont know much about Anson our first trip to Wadesboro. They were 7-3(4-0) in 2019 were held out of the postseason due to on field incident during Richmond County game. Looking at maxpreps they seem to be a pretty balanced team QB,top rusher, and leading tackler on defense were all seniors but they do return leading receiver Jackson and looks like they had a solid JV team at 10-2.

For Clinton year 3 of the Johnson era i dont know much about what we have coming back what i can guess is basically off pure speculation according to who we should have coming back if that makes sense lol.

Tough test for Clinton making the long trip to Wadesboro if i heard correctly our scrimmage with EB was canceled Thursday due to weather so thia will be the first live action against someone other than teammates for the Horses. I expect the normal first game jitters and miscues hoping we can shake it off and grind out a win.

Any thoughts, predictions lets hear it been a long offseason im ready to talk.

Well first off, Ron and myself will be calling this game. Anson was nice enough to allow us to go, I know that sounds crazy but with COVID and capacity restrictions we didn’t know if they would, but they are and for that we are appreciative along with DH nation who can’t travel.

The game is at 6, pregame approx 5:30 so plan accordingly.

Clinton returns 2QBs (Smith, King) I expect Smith may get the nod as he seemed to play more at end of season last year but new year who knows.

WR’s (Williams & Simpson) I don’t know if Clinton plans to pass more this year. Simpson is a threat on jet sweeps, and Williams well if it were me that dude would get the ball thrown his way ALOT! Especially in red zone. He can jump out the building. 6”4 and talented. Played basketball and was clearly best athlete on court most every night.

Boogie Smith returns at RB. He can ball. I’d imaging with Wallace and Faison gone to graduation Smith will receive most of the carries.

Defensively I don’t know much other than we get Westerbeek back at LB he is a stud and Wilson at DE (I think)

We will have some dudes going both ways per usual so early fatigue is possible but with cooler weather in Feb than the heat of August and Sept maybe it won’t be as bad.

Clinton lost a great coach in Mcfatten but still has Grady and of course Coach Johnson.

Coach Johnson has bled black and gold since he first stepped on campus and his enthusiasm as a coach is infectious to his team and the community. He is a great guy and a tremendous coach. The unknown of this team and this season is yet to be determined but I do know one thing:

Anson, we are coming! Go horses!

Definitely will be listening. I expect Wilson to get some carries in the backfield aswell good sized kid and can move pretty well. Line should be solid return some experience with Blackmon and the Bennett brothers still some holes to fill. Defense Davion Smith and Bizzell return in the secondary i could see Wilson and Westerbeek leading the LBs and big oscar bennett somewhere in the middle of that Dline. With King we still have a place kicker and punter and i still think they play him at QB some as Blake can be used a couple different ways.

Even with all the ???? I expect to see a hardnose blue collar team the same type we have seen since Johnson has taken over were we lack on talent we make up with pure hard work. Im ready for Friday Night. Go Horses!!!!!!

If SWO does start at 7 I will tune in for at least first half hour. Even tho we're playing Dixon GOTTA listen to the Stallions. If things get way out of hand, and I expect them to I will return to the Clinton game and check it out. For anybody who hasn't tuned in to a Clinton broadcast I suggest you do. They do a great job, and thats being totally biased on the Dynamic Duo of Billy and Melvin at SWO. Got to put in a plug here for them, if ya'll dont mind.

Oh yes Jonathan and Ron do a great job and have so for years. And with uncertainties as far as attending games go DH faithful definitely appreciate what they do and that goes for all radio broadcasters thru out

Thanks for the kinds words SWO.
Go horses.

This is going to be an interesting spring season. Nobody really knows who has what due to no attendance at practice, 7on7 or any another contact between teams (that I have heard). Might be really important to get an early start with some wins going into last half of regular play. Winning conference will be a biggie for some home field games. Being the last year in the Coastal 8 I think we have an advantage on other conferences with a lot tougher schedules. Since SWO only has 2 (so far home games) we might just play more playoff games at home than regular season. If we can pick up a game #3 hope its at home. Come on SOMEONE buck up and play us. We promise not to beat ya to bad ....... 🎃 😬o_O

Good luck to all the area teams in and around Onslow County. And to NE, we owe ya BIG TIME.

Remember if you have the NFHS network you can watch this game. Idk if we will be able to link our audio with the video like our home games but you could always watch and listen to our broadcast at same time just now there will be a delay whereas for home games the audio/video are matched simultaneous.
