And so it begins....Darkhorses make the trip to Cumberland County to start the season...Definitely should be a good test to see where we are really at. Cape Fear returns a solid bunch and should be good as they been the last few years. They are ranked #17 in 3A on maxpreps preseason ranking i seen them at #13 on another site aswell.Last years game was a low scoring defensive game with Clinton's only score coming on a scoop and score on the first drive of the game. Story of that game missed tackles, untimely penalties. My opposing players to watch out for on defense Jalen Hudson 6'4 225 OLB/FS kid is a thumper Clause found that out last year. Has multiple D1 offers NC State,ECU,Army but he has committed to Wake Forest. On offense Zaire Boykin RB we had a hard time bringing him down last season and with the other big back Peterson out for the year he probably will carry the bulk of the load......For Clinton keys will be just excute the offense 4-5 yards at a time if we have to. Feed the big boy Smith suck that defense in then Evans using his speed to get outside and make some plays...completing a pass or two wouldnt hurt either. Defensively 11 men to the ball wrapped up. Front 7 has looked good so far we will see exactly how good they can be Friday.......not sure how we are special teams wise Coach Johnson holds it in high regard so im sure we will be prepared replacing 4 year kicker Chandler Perry wont be easy he was great for us......looking forward to making the trip Friday. 1% better each day and GO HORSES

I think the Horses will have a good showing Friday. They will be looking for revenge as this was one of the close games they lost last year. If the team follows their keys and secondary play is decent, they can walk out of Vander with a win.

Think it would be big if we do would be great for the guys confidence especially the returning varsity guys who had to endure that rough 0-3 start last year

And also one factor i didn't mention you know how tough it is early in the season with the heat factor and going against a bigger school with not many guys if any going both ways....definitely a tough test upcoming

Here’s a question. We all know that participation numbers in football is down for various reasons, namely concussions. Do you think the lower numbers affect the bigger schools more, or the smaller schools? I think it affects the larger achools more because many smaller schools usually have more two-way players who are used to playing both sides of the ball for entire games. What do you think?

Hard to say our numbers have been pretty steady varsity usually has between 30-40 kids and its about the same this year.....our biggest issue has been kids only wanting to specialize in one sport....still think it affects smaller schools more.....Shelby had something like 102 kids out thats amazing for a 2A school

Recent studies think have confirmed soccer has more concussions than football...i really think some parents overreact.....i mean are you gonna to stop letting your kid ride in the car for the risk of gettinf in a car accident....to each his own i guess

I’m anxious to see how we handle 10-11 in the box and what in game adjustments are made and then can we execute them. I think knowlydge starts, but look for a few plays designed just for Kaba. Defensively, we stuff the run forcing them to pass and then can we defend it. A lot of questions, all to be answered come Friday. Go horses!

Agreed....inside the 5 Kaba probably going get used the way Carolina Panthers use Cam Newton.....or him split out jump ball for him in the corner endzone

Not posting anything else up here besides maybe some score updates......Coaching staff though enthusiastic is extremely paranoid for some dang reason so just score updates from me now on im not talking about anything dont wanna give any state secrets away.

Looked at the simmons rating for week 1 and man we not getting any love whatsoever lol....Simmons has Cape Fear winning by 20

Darkhorse 34 any predictions ?

For tomorrow its going to be defensive in my opinion much like last year we looked good defensively and the things they did on us last year i think they will find it alot harder to do this year i got us pulling off the upset 14-10

Simmons has you a 20 pt. underdog, like us and Jville. Has Wallace and East Duplin up BIG. Funny things happen on the way to the REAL game. Good luck tomorrow.

0-0 at the end of 1 in the JV game...Cape Fear driving deep into Clinton territory

Cape Fear JV strikes gold first and gets the 2....8-0 Cape Fear JV early in the 2nd

Haven't got to see the Smith kid under center yet but man he just laid a helluva hit from the safety position

Just lil mistakes by the young guys not wrapping up gang tackling nothing major they will learn comes with experience alot of freshman out there.......offense just got to block RBs gotta hold that ball 2 lost fumbles i believe....Its JV they will get better

Would like to see QB King be more agressive he has the speed saw that Friday during the Jamboree

hope its not a repeat of the JV game against Northside-Jax last year...called at halftime 12-0 didnt even get a chance to comeback and JV games arent typically made up

It Cape Fear beats us by 20 as projection states, will all due respect to CF, but we will be looking at a potentially long season. Not saying we win, but I’ll be shocked if we lose by more than 14.

Fay observer has a more logically projection they have CF winning 17-14.....if they run the offense im seeing tonight at this JV game i dont think they can beat us front 7 alot better than last year

Clinton JV finally hits paydirt long pass and reception from King to Westerbeek....nice play 2 point conv fails 11:45 in 4th Cape Fear JV 16 Clinton 6

JV definitely has some fight in em defense has held pretty well especially with the fact they been on the field so much tonight...if offense can capitalize again we could have a ball game 9:51 left tho time is a factor

4:32 left in JV game story of this one offensive inability to really move the ball besides the one long TD pass....i think 3 lost fumbles and a block punt with all that the defense has held up pretty good
