Great way to start the season. Trinity was much improved over last year. (As are most Charter/Private schools who recruit well). Glad to come away with the win.

Long game, long drive home. Braves offense was nearly unstoppable. These guys can block, run and pass. Evans looked extremely good, Mintz (both of them) were on top of their game. Swimmer, Toineeta, and all the linemen were getting the job done. Got to work on the D a bit, but that will come.

Big test at home next Friday night as Mitchell, the #4 ranked team in NC comes to town! Mitchell has a lot of returners from their team that played for the State Championship last year.

Go Big Braves Go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me tell you, Mitchell is not the #4 team, they are not bad but not #4.
Early thoughts is Cherokee by 16.

ACT has Mitchell ranked #9 in all of WNC, 1A-4A. Right behind Murphy.

I think Mitchell is still getting press based off last season. They only have 6 seniors and one of those has a torn ACL. (Hate that for any kid)
Mitchell is playing lots of new faces in new places. They have potential to be a really good team but will take time. Only one receiver with any playing time last season. New backs. New dB's. Not the depth they had.
Now they still have talent that played last season and some of the new faces have talent, just have to get timing and gel.
Looking forward to coming to Cherokee on Friday.

I believe our qb will be okay, he went down early and sat out a few plays. He didn't play on defense after that but he did finish the game as QB, I believe it was a foot injury from the looks of it

I agree with wncbowhunter that Cherokee should be the favorite in this one at home. We have a solid team this year, but nothing like the team you saw last year, we only have seniors starting in 5 out of the 22 starting positions. We struggled at times on defense Friday night and I think Cherokee will provide much more of a passing threat than West Wilkes did, and we have 2 freshmen in our secondary, so they will have their first true test. I look forward to coming to yalls fine facilities Friday night, and think this will be a heck of a game.

It looked like a rough night for cherokee as the mintz looked about 50 percent and several players not finishing the game. I've said before that depth will kill the Braves.

Not so fast my friend. I honestly wouldn't read too much into the Robbinsville loss. Seen Murphy, Robbinsville and Cherokee play this year. Braves better bring their A game to Murphy.

I've seen them all play 2. HEALTH will be a big impact at the end.

I'm hearing Mintz might not play this week. That be a blow the Braves probably can't recover from. Bad week for that to happen

Hopefully Mintz gets to play, hate to see anyone hurt. It would be a big blow to Cherokee not to have him in the game. Injuries at the 1a level can be devastating to teams.
