WOW! What a game! Catholic comes from behind to beat Christian in The Holy War 19-14! The Cougars shut out the Knights in the second half to earn this W.
Catholic started out strong picking off Shrader in the endzone to end the first Christian threat. Catholic would make Christian pay with a Milan Howard 4yrd touchdown run.
Christian would answer right back with a Garrett Shrader 40yrd TD run, that kid can move I will say that!
The Cougars would strike back again this time with a Michael Neel 3yrd run to go up 13-7 after a missed XP.
Catholic got huge breaks in the first half forcing three redzone turnovers including one at the end of the first half where Woods looked to be heading for a TD but fumbled the ball into the endzone where it was recovered by Catholic.
The halftime score would end up being 14-13 Christian.
After halftime CC came out with a drive straight out of the Oddo Era, nearly 7 minutes and not one pass until the final play which was tipped and intercepted by Christian.
Catholic's defense would answer the call though sacking Shrader twice in the fourth quarter including a massive sack by Junior Jack Dumser which forced a Christian punt with just over 4 minutes to go.
Catholic would then drive 92yrds in just over three minutes and score on a 20yrd pass from Chris Walton to Milan Howard to take a 19-14 lead with 27 seconds to go.
Sam Broom would intercept Shrader on their first offensive play to seal the win for Catholic!!
Side note, Catholic was down three defensive starters in this game, but kids stepped up and this was a true team win for the Cougars!
